POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
About a year ago, I started a conversation series called Espresso Editions at Books & Books, inviting members of Miami’s publishing community to sit down over coffee and discuss the power of independent publishing.

Over the course of eleven public conversations, we explored how books and printed matter shape culture, build community, and create space for new ideas. What began as a series of informal discussions often evolved into lively exchanges with audience members, generating meaningful dialogue and unexpected connections. Now, those conversations have been collected in a new publication that will be released this Sunday.

The experience was a reminder that some of the most valuable knowledge comes from listening to one another. These conversations brought together printers, publishers, curators, librarians, booksellers, distributors, designers, and artists, each offering a unique perspective on the role of publishing during a time when independent voices feel more important than ever.

Join us this Sunday at 7 pm @booksandbooks for the book release, or pick up a copy through your local independent bookstore or online from EXILE Projects (link in bio).

A special thank you to designer Anika Huda, whose thoughtful design and visual identity brought this publication to life! A heartfelt thank you to the City of Coral Gables Cultural Arts Division for making both this series and publication possible, and to all of the participants who generously shared their time and insights:

Cristina Favretto from University of Miami Special Collections, Barbara London, Erika Morales and Julian Martin of Lemon Yellow, Anastasia Samoylova, Yaddyra Peralta from O, Miami, Jessica Faroy of TRA Publishing, Tom Virgin from Extra Virgin Press, Alyssa Andrews of [NAME] Publishing, Steve Saiz and Lillian Banderas from Dale Zine, Neil Brideau of Radiator Comics, Ingrid Schindall of IS Projects/ Shared Printmaking Facilities (SPF), and everyone who joined us along the way.
