This whole project was sparked at Lemuria what feels like an eon ago, so I'm super excited to finally do a book event there! And looking forward to meeting another Wild Work author IRL.

For a signed copy of THE WATERSMITH, call any of the fine indie bookstores from last week’s tour. I left a trail of them in my wake.

What a treat to catch @ariel.lawhon on book tour not once, but twice! I had such a great time joining Ariel in conversation at @lemuriabooks in Jackson, MS with such a fantastic crowd. And I got to hang out with @mississippimomreads (I stole your picture) whom I met at the MS Book Festival! The day before Lemuria, my local indie, @pagepalette, hosted Ariel for a pre-event happy hour followed by a discussion and signing with another incredible crowd.

THE PIRATE QUEEN is the absolutely gripping story of Grace O’Malley—female chieftain, pirate, wife, mother, and overall incredible woman who deserves to be remembered. The audiobook is beautifully narrated by Tara Flynn, and the physical book has a gorgeous map, character list, and beautiful pages and a stunning cover that both stand up well to a white wine spill… ask me how I know 😬🙈

Thanks to all for letting me be a part of these amazing events! Everyone go grab THE PIRATE QUEEN wherever you get your books 🏴‍☠️👑

Thank you @prhaudio for the gifted audiobook! My friends started texting me when they heard that @ariel.lawhon was coming to @lemuriabooks for her book tour! What next? I quickly downloaded her new book The Pirate Queen! The audiobook is expertly performed! ⁣

It was great to meet this author! She has tackled the topic and legacy of the legendary Irish Folk heroine and the book is fascinating! I learned so much and I am in awe of this Pirate Queen. ⁣
👑🏴‍☠️👑⁣
About the book: A sweeping historical adventure inspired by the life of Grace O’Malley, the legendary Irish folk heroine who risked everything to defend her people. ⁣
👑🏴‍☠️👑⁣
Grace O’Malley was born to be a sea captain. But despite her natural skill on the water, Grace learns early that her dreams of a life at the helm are not compatible with the expectations of her noble family. As the only daughter of a powerful chieftain, her role is to secure a strong alliance and bear children. But when she’s sent to foster with a nearby clan, Grace falls for a clever and open-minded second son—a man she cannot have.

So behind on posting what I’m reading for the very few of you that care 😂.

Crux by Gabriel Tallent (a Lemuria 1st editions club pick) is a beautifully written, raw story about friendship, ambition, and how we are all just trying our best. There’s a lot of rock climbing talk, which is Greek to me, but at its heart, it’s about finding those people that make you want to keep holding on.

I met @gabriellasaab_ at the @msbookfestival and I had a blast at the Friday Night Fete getting to know her! I was thrilled to hear that she would be at nearby @lemuriabooks in conversation with Ariel Lawhon! I raced to attend the event! Gabriella’s new book The Survivors Guild released last month and it is my current read! A historical fiction novel involving the Titanic? I’m in! ⁣
📚📚📚⁣
About the book: In 1912, the sinking of the RMS Titanic brings together two women who might never have crossed paths: Nabiha “Bea” Nohra, a Lebanese immigrant searching for a better future in America, and Marguerite Ashby, a wealthy heiress whose engagement promises her family the social standing they desperately desire. But when the Titanic sinks, the two women’s paths are fused together when Bea saves Marguerite’s life and they are unexpectedly charged with the smallest survivor—a baby boy.

History is being made at Banner Hall.

Some progress is glamorous.
Some progress has plumbing.
Two public restrooms are about to make their Banner Hall debut.

Frankly, this feels huge.
A landmark moment, really.

Scott Gould's newest novel, BENEATH A FALLEN SKY, is set in the last days before Halley’s Comet is expected to come close to the earth and quite possibly wipe out everything and everybody. What strikes me most about the book is that Scott has taken this world-wide moment of anticipated doom and made it intimate, creating a story about a few inhabitants of a small north Alabama town whose personal “skies” are also falling in one way or another. This historical novel feels eerily timely. I'm looking forward to talking with Scott. Come see us tomorrow at Lemuria, 5 PM.

Here’s how we’d spend a fall day without ever leaving the neighborhood.
Coffee at @cupsquarter.
A lap around Parham Bridges, to earn what comes next.
An hour lost at @lemuriabooks.
Lunch at @thedistrictateastover.
An afternoon wander through @canton_mart_square.
Dinner wherever you run into a neighbor.

Save this for the weekend.
And if you’ve got a friend who swears there’s nothing to do in Jackson, send it their way.
