šŸšØ NATE SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA TODAY APRIL 26 @ 2PM šŸšØ Repost from @iloverescue Generous $500 pledge from a private donor is available. This dog must exit the shelter immediately and go directly into a foster home where they can decompress. They must be seen by a vet and cannot go into boarding under any circumstances! šŸ©· Nate is not what they wrote down on paper. When I stood in front of kennel D 51 just minutes ago, Nate didnā€™t cower, didnā€™t growl, didnā€™t show teeth. He walked up to the front of his kennel on his own, calm, quiet, almost thoughtful. There was something steady about himā€¦ a stoic kind of presence, like heā€™s trying to understand everything thatā€™s happened to him. This is a 2 year old boy who came in on a confiscate, thrown into a loud, overwhelming place, and somehow still chose to approach gently instead of shutting down. The notes say ā€œfearful,ā€ but what I saw was a dog trying his best in a situation that would break most. Shelters can distort behavior. Noise, confinement, unfamiliar hands reaching inā€¦ it can make any dog panic. But Nate showed me who he really is. Soft eyes. Controlled energy. No aggression. No chaos. Just a quiet dog standing there, hoping someone sees past the kennel card. He is scheduled to lose his life today, April 26 at 2pm, not because of who he is, but because of where he is. Please do not let this be the end of Nateā€™s story. He deserves the chance to decompress, to feel safe, to be understood. What I saw today was not a dangerous dog. I saw a good dog in the wrong place. Time is almost gone. Kennel Number: D 51 Animal ID: #A841849 Status: Urgent-Most At Risk Pet Description: Urgent Rescue Only Nate, a 2 years old intact male medium black and white shepherd mix dog Intake Date: 04/18/2026 Intake Type: CONFISCATE _____ šŸ“ Devore Animal Shelter 19777 Shelter Way San Bernardino, CA 92407 šŸ“ž Phone: (909) 386-9820 šŸ“§ Rescue Email: SBAC.Rescue@dph.sbcounty.gov šŸ•˜ Hours: ā€¢ Monā€“Tue, Thuā€“Fri: 10:00 AM ā€“ 6:30 PM ā€¢ Wednesday: 10:00 AM ā€“ 7:00 PM ā€¢ Satā€“Sun: 10:00 AM ā€“ 5:00 PM

THE SHELTER KILLED MAX šŸ’”šŸŒˆšŸ¾šŸ•Šļø šŸšØMAX SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 4/16 @ 2PMšŸšØ REPOST FROM @iloverescue Max is sitting in a kennel right now, and the way he presents in person does not line up with what is written in his notes. When I stood in front of his kennel, he came up immediately. Not hesitant, not backing away, not trying to avoid interaction. He was at the front, alert and engaged, watching everything happening outside his kennel. During my interaction with him, I did not hear growling. I did not see fear based behaviors in the way his evaluation describes. There was no retreating from me, no avoidance, and no signs that he was trying to create distance in that moment. He remained forward and attentive the entire time. That matters, because his written assessment describes fear, avoidance, and difficulty with handling. But what I observed in real time did not reflect that same picture. What I saw was a young dog responding normally in a stressful environment, not a dog showing aggression or shutting down in my presence. He is one of several dogs who came in on 4/10, and whatā€™s becoming impossible to ignore is that the behavior notes are reading almost identical across multiple animals. Same language. Same descriptions. Same outcomes. And that raises a real concern about whether these dogs are being seen as individuals or processed through the same template during a high intake period. Max is still very young, still in a high stress environment that moves quickly from intake to evaluation with very little time in between for dogs to decompress. Kennel Number: D 19 Animal ID: #A841381 Status: Urgent-Most At Risk Pet Description: Urgent Rescue Only Max, a 2 years old intact male large brown brindle shepherd mix dog Intake Date: 4/10 _____ šŸ“ Devore Animal Shelter 19777 Shelter Way San Bernardino, CA 92407 šŸ“ž Phone: (909) 386-9820 šŸ“§ Rescue Email: SBAC.Rescue@dph.sbcounty.gov šŸ•˜ Hours: ā€¢ Monā€“Tue, Thuā€“Fri: 10:00 AM ā€“ 6:30 PM ā€¢ Wednesday: 10:00 AM ā€“ 7:00 PM ā€¢ Satā€“Sun: 10:00 AM ā€“ 5:00 PM

šŸ†˜EXTREMELY URGENT PLEASE SHAREšŸ†˜ āš ļøRESCUE/FOSTER NEEDEDā€¼ļø Repost from @share.for.love Aiden is scheduled for euthanasia 19 days after he came in with a broken pelvis He is midway through the prescribed cage rest and is also out of time šŸ’” His final notice expired April 5 Aiden needs urgent help to make it out of Downey alive #A5762357 1yr, Neutered, 59 lbs. Stray, came in on 03/14/26 neutered and microchipped Aiden is available for rescue only w/khoa Aiden was housed in a regular kennel, but he was suddenly moved to out of view and labeled rescue only. There are no behavior or handling assessments for Aiden, he has a healing fractured pelvis and is on cage rest. The rescue only label seems to have been based entirely on his intake notes, when he was hurt and in pain. He is still healing, confused, and stuck in a shelter cage. He needs a soft place to land, not a death sentence based on fear. Aiden also came in chipped and neutered but no one came to reclaim him. 3/14/26 Intake behavior observations: Skittish and averse to touch. Would not allow me to palpate testicles, examine mouth, or palpate any part of his body. Required muzzle to conduct exam. He did NOT attempt to bite, lunge, snarl, and was quiet, but was clearly stressed (dilated pupils, flattened ears, tucked tail + rump, avoiding me). Fear-Anxiety-Stress level observed at intake: (4) High FAS Ambulatory x 3, mainly limping on RPL, however, also seems to have some tenderness on LPL while observing gait, abrasion on L medial thigh Medical notes: 3/16/26 Hopping, limping, brought to clinic for sedated radiographs Rads show L acetabular fracture Cage rest 4-6 weeks š’š‡š„š‹š“š„š‘ š€šƒšƒš‘š„š’š’ Downey Animal Care Center 11258 Garfield Avenue Downey, CA 90242 (562) 940-6898 šŸ“· @my_dexy_dex #dogs #dog #shelterdogs #shelterdog rescuedismyfavoritebreed

UPDATE - RESCUED šŸšØ LONG TERM FOSTER NEEDED!! DEXTER CANNOT BE SAVED WITHOUT ONE! THE SHELTER EXTENDED HIM UNTIL 3/25 @ 2PM. THEY WILL NOT EXTEND ANYMORE! WHO CAN HELP? šŸšØ Repost from @iloverescue šŸšØ DEXTER SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA TODAY 3/25 @ 2PM šŸšØ SHELTER EXTENDED HIM FROM YESTERDAY BUT THEY WILL NOT HOLD HIM ANY LONGER. WE NEED A LONG TERM FOSTER TO BE ABLE TO SAVE HIS LIFE! IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE COMMENT! WE ARE ALMOST OUT OF TIME! Dexter didnā€™t rush up to greet me the way youā€™d expect from a young dog. He didnā€™t bark. He didnā€™t jump. He didnā€™t even really move. He just sat thereā€¦ quiet, shut down, like heā€™s already given up. This is the same boy the notes describe as ā€œhyperā€ and ā€œexcited,ā€ but thatā€™s not who I met. What I saw was a 1 year old dog who is sick, overwhelmed, and completely defeated by this environment. The coughing, the stress, the constant noiseā€¦ itā€™s taken everything out of him. And now, after everything, heā€™s been added to the euthanasia list. He could be one of the first dogs euthanized today. Imagine going from being a young, energetic dog to sitting silently in a kennel, not even trying anymoreā€¦ and then losing your life before anyone ever really knew you. Dexter needs someone to see him. To understand that the shelter is not a true reflection of who he is. To give him the chance to decompress, to feel safe, to be a dog again. Please donā€™t let this be the end of his story. Share him everywhere. He needs an exit now. šŸ†˜EXTREMELY URGENTšŸ†˜ Repost from @smilingbrinks THIS IS Ozzyā€™s LAST CHANCE to find a UNICORN foster and rescue to save him by EOD WED 3/25 or he will be euthanized THU morning at North Central Los Angeles Shelter ā€” I have SECURED 6 weeks of paid Board n Train for him with a highly respected trainer in SoCal for a qualified rescue! He is now RESCUE only due to his getting loose and attacking another dog in a nearby playgroup. DM me @smilingbrinks if you want to learn more of you are an experienced dog handler that wants to be his foster! Please share in case his miracle is out there Ozzy was surrendered a month ago by his family due to ā€˜landlord issuesā€™. He was an indoor/outdoor dog that has very little coping mechanism for being stuck in a cement kennel in a chaotic shelterā€”stressed the entire time. Things started going south for him last weekā€”as I returned him to his kennel after a fun session in the yard, but when I did NOT exit properly, he tried to dash out and we got tangled up. I fell on top of him, and as I tried to untangle usā€”with my face right near hisā€”he panicked and he nipped me on the lip. (See my other reel for him pinned to my profle discussing this) Yesterday, I took him out to the yard with another volunteer and he was great with us. No hard feelings, only solid leash work, lots of treats, pets, and plenty of belly rubs I feel an incredible responsibility to save him but he needs a solid rescue and a foster who has bully breed experience who will stick by him as he goes through training and decompression. Heā€™s not a dog for everyone but he deserves a chance with THE RIGHT, SKILLED AND COMMITTED PERSON. This is his Hail Mary post, in case his hero(s) are out there. Maybe, just maybe, his miracle is out there... RESCUED šŸšØ PARKER SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 3/22 @ 2PM šŸšØ Repost from @iloverescue Parker hasnā€™t even had a chance yetā€¦ and now heā€™s out of time. He was just waiting for March 21, the day he became available. But for dogs like Parker, that date doesnā€™t mean safety. There is a certain look, a certain stigma, a certain type of dog that gets euthanasia listed here almost immediatelyā€¦ and Parker never stood a chance against it. Before he ever made it into the shelter, you can already see this boy hasnā€™t had an easy life. His body tells that story for him. Wounds, a dull coat, the kind of wear that doesnā€™t come from one bad day, but from many. From time spent without care, without comfort, without someone looking out for him. And now heā€™s here. Itā€™s been confirmed the shelter used a catch pole on him, and you can see the hemorrhaging in his right eye. It explains some of what youā€™re seeing, but not all of it. Thereā€™s something going on with his jaw too, and whether that came from before or during intake, it just adds to the picture of a dog who has endured far more than he ever should have. Whatā€™s hardest about Parker is thisā€¦ you can tell he hasnā€™t known much kindness. Not consistently. Not in the way a dog deserves. And now, just as heā€™s landed in a place where help could happen, his life is already scheduled to end. He needed time. He needed care. He needed someone to see him. Instead, he has a deadline. He needs an exit plan immediately. There is no more time. I will not sit back and let this be the end of his story without a fight. Parker deserves more than this. He deserves to know what it feels like to be safe, to be cared for, to finally experience something good. Please share him everywhere. He is going to need all the help he can get right now. #A839599 Name: Parker Location: Devore Shelter Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (mix) Sex: Unaltered Male Color: White and Black Age: Unknown Kennel: D 73 _____ šŸ“ Devore Animal Shelter 19777 Shelter Way San Bernardino, CA 92407 šŸ“ž Phone: (909) 386-9820 šŸ“§ Rescue Email: SBAC.Rescue@dph.sbcounty.gov šŸ•˜ Hours: ā€¢ Monā€“Tue, Thuā€“Fri: 10:00 AM ā€“ 6:30 PM ā€¢ Wednesday: 10:00 AM ā€“ 7:00 PM ā€¢ Satā€“Sun: 10:00 AM ā€“ 5:00 PM

THIS IS WHY I VOLUNTEER! THIS IS WHY I FOSTER! One year ago today, I took a chance on a dog at North Central Los Angeles Shelter who desperately needed someone to take a chance on him. His name: Chico. He was set for euthanasia that day with NO INTEREST. He was a hard-knocks case. Shut down. Underweight. Combative with other dogs. Only a few volunteers like @thegreatmutata and I paid him much attention. I took him out regularly over a couple months. A bond grew for both of us. When his time was up, I just couldnā€™t give up on him. I was concernedā€”other seasoned volunteers were concernedā€”at the idea of me bringing him home to live with my 45lb bully, Luna. Would they get along when it seemed he was incapable of it at the shelter? Luna, who is no angel herself, had welcomed 5 previous foster dogsā€”all bully breedsā€”to my home. I figured fuck it, Iā€™d rather regret something Iā€™ve chosen TO do than something Iā€™ve chosen NOT TO do. Thanks to @lendabone rescue, who pulled him for me, I sprung him. And weā€™ve had an absolutely magical year. First, after very measured and patient integration, with slow intros, he showed he can absolutely live with another dog. Then a wonderful team of animal wellness advocates sponsored training for him with the amazing team at @humbleK9 to work on his reactivity with other dogs. Working with Chico this past year has transformed my understanding of canine drives and behaviorā€”and how to NEVER take it personally when a dog demonstrates a challenging behavior. Chico and I continue to work TOGETHER on his reactivity to dogs outside the home and heā€™s made HUGE strides. Iā€™m so proud of him and of myself. It is a marathon, not a sprintā€¦ This boy deservers the best and if thereā€™s an adopter out there whoā€™s experienced and doesnā€™t mind continuing with the rewarding work Iā€™ve invested in Chicoā€”hit me up! Iā€™d love to tell you more about him. Thereā€™s an adoption form in my profile links or just DM me @smilingbrinks In the meantime, Iā€™ve got his back as long as he needs it. And heā€™s got mine. Long live Chico.

šŸ’”PLEASE SHAREšŸ’” Repost from @iloverescue Iā€™ve been here since December 6th. Day after day. Month after month. Iā€™ve watched other dogs come and go from my kennel. Some leave with people who promise to love them forever. Some get rescued. And me? I stay. I wait. I try to be good. I play when they let me. I wag my tail. I lean into the staff when they come by. They tell me Iā€™m a fun boy. A great boy. But no one sees me for more than a few minutes. No one stops long enough to notice that Iā€™m still here, still hoping. They say I get enrichment a few times a week, but it doesnā€™t fill the quiet hours. The echoing barks. The smells of dogs who came and went while I remained. Iā€™m tired of waiting. Iā€™m tired of being overlooked. Iā€™ve been neutered. Iā€™ve proven Iā€™m a good boy. And yet my name goes on the euthanasia list again and again. I donā€™t understand. I just want someone to see me, really see me, and give me a chance to leave this place behind. Please, someone save me. Iā€™ve waited long enough. I just want out. Animal ID: #A833797 Name: My name is Keke. Description: I am a brown brindle, neutered male, who looks like a Dutch Shepherd. Age: I am estimated to be 2 years and 2 months old.
