Today, like so many other hip-hop fans around the globe, Homebase celebrates hip-hop's 50th birthday. We are proud that for nearly 10 years already, we have been able to contribute to this global culture in our own small way by bringing real, authentic hip-hop to our city with the grassroots approach that is central to hip-hop.

Here's a few photos of some of the many hip-hop legends that have graced our stage over the past decade. From nothing to something, here's to the next 50 years!

📷 Hey it’s us again with our annual group photo. 📷

Each year we try to recreate this awkward ‘pose with your hostel’ shot for you during our favorite time of the winter: ESNS . From when we opened the hostel as a trial for the first time back in 2017 to the rather sad version of this year.

Sad because this year we’re closed and Eurosonic will be taking place online only. It will be hard to get through the winter without this musical highlight in our lovely city! And boy oh boy has it been a hard winter and a hard fucking year. We’ve been trying to keep the spirit alive and positive and so you’ve seen some cool pics of our fun summer but you haven’t seen our empty rooms and endless mind maps on how to survive this pandemic. Since opening the hostel this has been the biggest challenge and it’s not over yet. Because as you might understand, hostels with dorm rooms and communal spaces don’t do well in a world of social distancing. We’ve spent the whole year racking our brains, adapting to the ever changing policies whilst trying to stay true to ourselves. This led to a fun summer with lots of (small) parties at the beach and many Dutch tourists. And thankfully with the support of our government, we’re still here, we’ve made it to 2021 ! We’re grateful for the people that visited us, for all the help we’ve had and we’ve definitely learnt a lot and proven to be resilient and flexible. So looking back at last year, it wasn’t all bad, but still let’s not do that again!
