Was epic having @lucapadua on the pod to break down some legendary stories including this one from that apocalyptic swell that rocked Mavericks a couple years ago. What a historic wave ridden by @aloslebir 🙌 #LENNYBROS @kai_lenny

When Kai Lenny and Ridge Lenny talk about bodyboarding like this, it’s worth listening.

“Counterculture is core.”

That line says a lot.

Bodyboarding has always had that raw, underground edge. No need for mainstream approval. No need for fanfare. Just riders throwing themselves into some of the heaviest waves on the planet, launching airs that shouldn’t be possible, and doing it because they genuinely love it.

For years, bodyboarding has been ridiculed by people who don’t really understand it.

But the people who know wave riding properly?
They know.

They know how much commitment it takes to ride heavy slabs.
They know how technical it is to hold speed, line and control from such a critical position.
They know how ridiculous the airs are.
They know how much creativity, courage and skill sits behind the best bodyboarding in the world.

Big respect to the Lenny brothers for saying what bodyboarders have known for years.

Bodyboarding doesn’t need to be mainstream to be special.

It’s core because it’s still raw.

What do you reckon, does bodyboarding deserve more respect?

That clip we shared of Kai Lenny bodyboarding the other day?

That was just scratching the surface. 👀

This is their conversation…. not our words.

A genuine exchange between two brothers talking about why bodyboarding deserves more respect, and why the most committed riders often go unnoticed. They openly credit bodyboarders they admire, including Jeff Hubbard and Ryan Hardy for charging heavy waves, boosting airs, and pushing limits.

Are we seeing a shift in how bodyboarding is being respected by the wider surf world?

It’s a reminder that while bodyboarding still gets “clowned on” by some, those who really know quietly tip their hats.

👉 Head over to the @lenny.bros socials to see how it unfolds.
