Princess Peach and Princess Daisy are two of the most recognizable female characters in Nintendo’s Mario franchise. Peach is the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom and first appeared in Super Mario Bros. in 1985, while Daisy debuted later in Super Mario Land as the princess of Sarasaland. Over time, the two became closely associated in spin-off games like Mario Kart, Mario Party, and the sports titles.

Even though they are both princesses, their personalities are intentionally very different. Peach is usually portrayed as graceful, polite, elegant, and compassionate, while Daisy is much louder, more energetic, competitive, and tomboyish. Daisy’s famous “Hi, I’m Daisy!” introduction became iconic because of how enthusiastic and chaotic she sounds compared to Peach’s calmer demeanor. Fans often describe them as opposites who balance each other out.

Nintendo consistently portrays Peach and Daisy as very close friends. Many games pair them together as teammates, and official descriptions have referred to Daisy as Peach’s “sister-in-arms.” They are often shown shopping together, competing together, or cheering each other on during sports events.

There has also been a long-running fan theory that Peach and Daisy are cousins. Some old strategy guides suggested this, but Nintendo has never officially confirmed it in the games themselves. Most modern sources simply describe them as best friends rather than relatives.

Their popularity exploded in spin-off games because they helped round out the Mario cast alongside characters like Mario and Luigi. Peach is commonly paired with Mario, while Daisy is strongly associated with Luigi, to the point where many fans consider Luigi and Daisy one of Nintendo’s unofficial couples.
