Happy Sunday everypawty. I hope you are all having a good weekend and that my American furriends weren't too frightened by the fireworks

The day afer Independence Day is significant because Frederick Douglas gave his iconic 1852 speech entitled "What to the slave is the 4th of July?" He spoke intentionally on this day to highlight the hypocrisy of celebrating American liberty while millions of black people were still enslaved Today, taking a cue from his scathing address, social justice advocates have designated July 5 as Matyrs Day to honor activists and civil rights protesters

The 4th of July was very different for me than in the past 5 years. Usually Mom and I sit on the upstairs garden lanai and watch the fireworks. This time she took me to Starbucks for a kitty cup 🍦. I also got my very own piece of dover sole and an extra bedtime churu.

Today's Hawaii photo is the incredibly rare, highly endangered Silversword, which is found nowhere else on esrth except the freezing, high altitude summit of Haleakala volcano on Maui. To survive the extreme volcanic environment and unrelenting UV radiation above the clouds: it's sword like leaves are covered in reflective metallic silver hairs. They live 90 years but only bloom once before drying up completely and dying. I think it looks exactly like a firework, don't you?

Happy new week dear furriends, hope you had a lovely weekend. Don't you love morning glories? They are one of my favorite things about Springtime. And , of course Easter! I know the Easter Bunny is supaw busy this year but I hope he will stop by to see me.🐰 If he brings me something I will share with my neighbor Maximilian the Siamese. He doesn't have a Mom, only a Daddy and apparently at Christmas his Daddy didn't mail his letter to Santa so he didn't get anything!! I gave him half of my Christmas haul amd whenever I go to @petsmart I always get something for him. He is always very appreciative. I have met him through his screen door and he's a lovely gentleman.

Remember the pineapple 🍍 jack o lanterns? What do you think of the Easter Bunny pineapples? I know Aunty Merah @besarmerah will love them.

Its #thursdaypurrsday when we get together to raise our voices to purr for Shadow @besarmerah the sweetest boy with the loudest purrs ever who left us way too soon #purrsforshadow . Now, each week on Shadow's day we remember the life of a #foreverlovedfurriend ; a special angel whose light burns bright in our hearts 💕 Today we honor my furriend Pumpkin @snow_kitty.cat from the beautiful island 🏝 nation of Trinidad and Tobago. This incredible family of dogs and cats were some of my very first IG furriends. Pumpkin was, in the words of Mom-unique, amazing and magnificent. I couldn't agree more. Her pawrents saved her at age 3-4 months from cruel neighbors who left her chained outside, covered in fleas and ticks! Her gotcha day was 4/10/19. After her rough start in life she had separation anxiety so they took her on long walks and caring rides to calm her. It worked and her huge, quirky, loving personality emerged. Everyone gravitate to her, cats dogs, people...she had so much love to give. Her first beach trip was in August and that was it! She ran up and down the beach until she was exhausted and slept all the way home. She loved all food, especially mangoes 🥭 and she would bring them in the house , her face all orange and sticky with juice. She loved sharing breakfast with the pawrents after morning zoomie chase games. Mom had always dreamed of a special soul bond with a pet and Pumpkin gave that to her; 2 hearts, one soul , into infinity. When Pumpkin was a year old she had emergency surgery to remove an ectopic kidney; it was truly a miracle she survived and though she was here only a short time ,her family remembers those precious years with only joy. When I look at her face , I see an eternity of love in her eyes. It's no wonder she was white, i know she was an angel on loan from heaven. Love you

Each week on Shadow's day we honor the life of a #foreverlovedfurriend , a special angel whose light burns 🔥 bright in our hearts and memories. The first memorial of the year is so dear to my heart @casper_bonz 9/11/05-3/8/24. Casper was an extraordinary soul and he had an exceptional life with a furriendship that was truly magical. He was adopted at 8 weeks old from Mulberry Farm and raised by 3 cat brofurs ; he even washed his face like a cat! A true connoisseur, he was a picky eater who double sniffed everything. When Mama's partner , who was from Hong Kong gave him Char Sui Bao ( pork bun-we call them manapua in Hawaii) He loved it!! He loved all Chinese food so much his pawrents believe he was Chinese in another life . A chance meeting in a park at age 8 with @motathepup led to a lifelong bond. At age 10 Casper got jaw cancer and had part of his jaw removed. He couldn't figure out how to get his favorite ball but Mota helped him. Mota helped him learn to swim too. Casper loved him so much and always race to protect him if he thought Mota was being threatened. He loved adventures and meeting new people, he loved everyone and they loved him... his eyes radiated compassion and kindness like I've never seen before. A life of love, eating aged English aged cheddar cheese, Japanese crispy chicken and being painted by the renowned street artist @copycat.original ( that's how I met him!) Aside from cancer , he overcame IBD, abdominal surgery and pancreatitis before crossing the rainbow 🌈 bridge at 18.5 years old. He lives on in beautiful videos on his page along with cat brofurs adorable Louie and Rolo. Please follow and support this beautiful family, I know Casper will be so proud.

Every year the Sheraton Waikiki hosts some of the most spectacular sand sculpture artisans anywhere; this Shaka Santa is just incredible

Happy #sweetsurprise Sunday everypawty!! I got happy mail!! Astrid and Cosmo @astrid_the_kittie sent me a box of Halloween 🎃 treats and prezzies. These toys are so cute and clever ( I love "punny" things) Can you see the cute card? Astrid's Meowmy said that's exactly how she pictures me with a "Halloween hangover"- how did she know??? I absolutely ADORE the @delectablescattreats spoon 🥄 treats - have you tried them??? Meowlicious!!! Mom got some very special postcards for her vintage and book that Astrid's pawrents road trip earlier this year along with @honolulucookie guava cookies and a gift card. Thank you so much we long everything. I also got a Halloween 🎃 card from Sid, Ollie and Tetley @iamtetley; isn't it cute?? Last but not least I got a big package 📦from Aunty Merah @besarmerah
Mom says I must wait til Saturday ( my birthday) to open but I'm sooooo curious - it's big and heavy - what do you think it is? I'm keeping a sharp eye on it at all times. This Saturday November 8 I will be turning 6 years old and I want to celebrate with #kaipos6thbirthdayaroundtheworldpawty

This week we remember the charismatic, handsome king of floof Ringo 10/11/11-6/26/25 @astrid_the_kittie . Adopted from a Maine Coon rescue Ringo was a sweet soul whom Catdad says was more bird 🐦 than cat with his mysterious eyes, quiet nature and gentle chirps. He maintained his magnificent floof by RUNNING whenever he saw the brush , rolling all around to be sure every inch got "floofified". He slept with his pawrents every night in bed and loved to sit by Meowmy on her desk. He adored an open window and sunbeam and he patiently tolerated siblings Astrid and Cosmo ( who pestered him constantly)He loved to sharpen his talons on his favorite scratchpad.Alyhough he wouldn't tolerate a collar he rocked his @pittsburghwhiskers lemonade 🍋 bandana like a SUPAW meowdel. He was scheduled for surgery on June 26 but it was discovered that his carcinoma was too large and he was welcomed over the rainbow bridge by brofurs Fritz and Willy. Sweetest Ring Ring, Ming Ming...you are missed , loved and thought of every day . I know you have found just the purrfect sunbeam and perhaps a rainbow 🌈 or two to watch over your loved ones. We miss you. Rest in purrs sweet furriend

I think it's time to back the truck up to my door and unload all the pineapples 🍍🍍🍍.
Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse on Saturday my Daddy took a horrible turn for the worse. Mom is usually very calm in these situations but I could tell she was scared, REALLY scared. She told me and Daddy "I'm calling 911" I stayed right next to Daddy where he was slumped at the top of the stairs unable to move . The sirens from the fire 🚒 truck told me help was coming and when the 3 big firemen and 2 paramedics came I ran down the stairs and then back up to show them where to go to help Daddy. They said I was the bestest boy and they promised to get him safely to the hospital. He talks to me on the phone every night before bedtime and I meow and purr as loud as I can . This makes him feel better, the power of the healing purrs is real!! Thank you dear furriends for all your love and support, my dms are overflowing and I promise to read all your messages, things are very hectic and uncertain now. Mom and I are trying to keep each other strong .

Today we remember one of my best furriends Broonzy @biggins.broonzy.lonny 3/15/21-11/26/24. Lil Bill Broonzy A, named after his Dad's favorite blues singer , he was a natural born star; handsome, charming with a huge purrsonality loved by all his furriends for his sweet, loving and kind nature. Born on a farm in Calgary 🇨🇦 his pawrents drove 4 hours to pick him up. He loved car rides and when his family moved from Calgary to Ontario they lived in the car 4 days and he loved every minute of the grand adventure. When he first came home at 8 weeks he disappeared into the wall , scaring Meowmy half to death. She was able to lure him out with food and a toy while Dad was at the store buying tools to cut into the wall. Afterwards they "baby cat proofed" the house. He was always getting into "spaces"; I loved seeing him IN the Christmas tree. He adored churus , playing fetch with crinkle balls and purrfecting the most photogenic poses His fur siblings Biggins and Lonny lovee him as well. At Christmastime last year he developed a bladder blockage and despite a valiant fight to the last breath he went over the rainbow bridge in Meowmy's arms on Dec 26. I still can't believe he's gone . His family misses him every day and Meowmy days she'll make sure his baby human sister will know all about him. I am pawsitive he's hanging out with his namesake in heaven. I love you Broonzy ,my sweet buddy and I look for you in rainbows. I'll never forget you 🌈💙🐈

Today we honor my sweet young furriend Totoro @jamesthebritishblue 6/1/23-5/4/25. Named after a Japanese animated movie , Totoro was larger than life with his huge luminous eyes that looked as if he always had a special secret. He wandered into James garden in early 2024 wearing a bell 🔔, disappeared for a time and returned to claim his forever home. If you know James you KNOW he doesn't allow interlopers in his domain but surprisingly he and GT accepted the young gray fluffy kitty. ( Jodie "tolerated"him - sorta) He loved chicken and beef in jelly ( no fish,) and his favorite toy was a yeoww catnip cushion stolen from James. He loved playing in James' castle and Jodie's box. Full of energy and curiosity he leapt high to catch bugs, climbed trees and watched the fish in the pond. He adored being loved and cuddled by Meowmy and he slept upside down spread eagled. He loved to "help" with gardening, climbing on Meowmy to supervise. Tragedy struck a month before his 2nd birthday when he was hit by a car. They didn't bother to stop. Meowmy found out on a Facebook post, something no pawrent should ever experience. He is laid to rest in his beloved garden with a memorial stone. I know he watches over his family and that James , GT and even Jodie knows he is their guardian angel. I miss his sweet face and silly antics so much and I'm angry that he was taken so young but Mom says I will see him again. Love you sweet buddy 💗

Today we remember Hunter @hunter_angel_meow 11/30/20-12/24/24 Today is the anniversary of his gotcha day 5/1/21.Hunter was the embodiment of the CDS ( Cat Distribution System) at its finest . He was the outside kitty of the nextdoor neighbors and during Covid his Meowmy saw him sitting on the garden wall with "eyes so wise beyond his years" and despite being "NOT A CAT PERSON" she called him over. He started waiting at her door every morning Turns out he was neglected and he had chosen his REAL Meowmy. One thing led to another and he was at his forever home He adjusted quickly to indoor life and lots of love, enjoying fresh chicken Cosima snackies , lounging in the garden, playing with kitty cousins and watching the neighborhood from the fence . He loved everyone he met and enjoyed showing off his tricks and meowdelling ( he was so handsome and photogenic) In July 2022 he was diagnosed with HCM ( hypertrophic cardio myopathy) went into congestive heart failure Feb 2024 and crossed the rainbow bridge Christmas Eve 2024 at just 4 years old. With a lifetime of love packed into that short life his legacy is his Meowmy raising awareness and helping other pawrents deal with kitty heart disease. Hunter approves and he brought the rainbow to Meowmy on his calendar ( see last pic) I know he and my brofur Kimo ( who also had HCM) are besties in heaven.

Today's Kauai rainbow 🌈 is for you Hunter ; you showed us all how to live , love and appreciate every moment. We will always remember with you with love

Today we are remembering beautiful Gina @gina_thecat_2002 4/21/02-7/29/22. Gina was Meowmy Kathi's since she was 13 years old. She says Gina was her soul cat, princess, best friend and whole heart 💘 Gina's catmom belonged to Kathi's brother so she knew Gina since the day she was born. Gina adored treat sticks , chasing anything that moved and sleeping on Meowmy. My very favorite photo is her under the Christmas tree 🎄 In the midst of the elaborate display of tiny animals there is Gina in the middle , not disturbing anything but reigning over everything! The purrfect Christmas Queen. Meowmy got a beautiful tattoo and now Gina is with her always. I know that Gina is watching over Meowmy, fur siblings @elfie_nika and new hooman baby 🍼 You lived a long and extraordinary life Gina and we hold you close in our hearts. We love you 💘 Please support Meowmy Kathi and follow Elfie and Nika on their adventures and life in Germany @elfie_nika
