keeping the old with the new

visited @midcenturymanila ‘s Somewhere in Nuvali. I’ve always had a thing for old things, the stories behind them, the details, and how they continue to find their place in the present. This exhibition felt like a meeting point between nostalgia, design, and innovation.

One of those trips that makes the drive worth it. Good finds, brands, snacks, and even better conversations.

Worth checking out. Open until December!

In Chairs We Trust: Where Design, Culture, and Comfort Collide

Forget everything you know about sitting down. In Chairs We Trust is not merely an exhibition; it is a pilgrimage for the design-obsessed and the culturally curious. At its beating heart lies a curated sanctuary of 300 of the most iconic, avant-garde, and masterfully crafted chairs from around the globe. From the sculptural genius of mid-century masters to the bleeding-edge experimentation of contemporary visionaries, this showcase invites you to witness the evolution of the object we all too often take for granted. This is a rare opportunity to trace the lineage of comfort and style, celebrating the chair not just as a piece of furniture, but as a throne of human innovation.

But this is far more than a silent gallery walk. @midcenturymanila transformed the space into a living, breathing cultural ecosystem. As your eyes feast on the finest mid-century furniture, your ears will be treated to the warm crackle of vinyl spun by select DJs. You can explore the tactile world of local designers, elevate your wardrobe with curated Japanese apparel and footwear, and fuel your inspiration with artisan coffee and gourmet food. As the day transitions into evening, the atmosphere shifts—the tempo rises, the cocktails flow, and the energy culminates with live music, turning a design showcase into a full-blown sensory celebration.

In Chairs We Trust is a testament to the idea that everything we surround ourselves with tells a story. It is a convergence of communities—designers, audiophiles, foodies, and fashionistas—united by a shared appreciation for the thoughtfully made. Come for the chairs, stay for the culture. Join us as we take a seat and raise a glass to the art of living well.
