#DragonCon is in full swing, with tens of thousands of people from around the world attending the annual pop culture convention in Atlanta. The Hyatt Regency Atlanta is one of the host hotels for Dragon Con’s 40th celebration, where attendees are gathering dressed as their favorite heroes and villains.

Dragon Con spokesperson Jo Garland said it is the largest multigenre pop culture convention, featuring everything from comic books, sci-fi and fantasy to music. A 24-year-old Atlanta nurse is urging others not to ignore changes in their health after doctors unexpectedly found a brain tumor when she went to have swollen lymph nodes in her neck examined. Cameron Ferenchik was two months into her job at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta when an MRI revealed a mass in her brain that was blocking the flow of spinal fluid. Doctors determined it was a tumor and she underwent surgery just days later to remove as much of it as possible.

Ferenchik said the tumor was not cancerous and stressed the importance of seeking care early and often. Dr. Jim Robinson, a neurosurgeon at Northside Hospital, said the tumor could have killed her but doctors were able to intervene before anything bad happened. August is Neurosurgery Awareness Month, which highlights treatment of conditions involving the brain, spine and nervous system. Headaches are a common symptom of brain tumors, though symptoms can vary depending on a tumor’s size and location.

NABJ26 Part 1: It was so wonderful reuniting with my NABJ family! My first NABJ convention was 22 years ago, and I’ve missed about 7 conventions over the years. But no matter how much time has passed, my friends and I pick up right where we left off. From the panel discussions to coffee/lunch meetings, I’m leaving Atlanta feeling rejuvenated, uplifted and joyful. Some of these folks have known me 15-20 years, some are mentees, mentors and former students who are now working in the business. My only regret is that I didn’t take more pictures. My heart is full ❤️
Part 2 coming soon… NABJ after dark 👀

Grateful for days like today! 🙏🏾🖤

We came out to support the Save Our Sons movement and were blessed to be part of something BIG for the community! 💪🏾

Huge shoutout to @iamgarydavissr for providing this opportunity and for the incredible work he continues to do through @nextlevelboysacademy, pouring into young men and helping prepare them for success in school, life, and leadership. 💯🙏🏾

Much love to @donkspeaks as well for using his voice and platform to uplift and serve God! 🗣️🔥

& much respect to @torencehatch1g for opening up his estate to all of ATL for FREE!! Creating a space where our young people can connect, learn, be inspired, and see positive examples in action truly matters.

The SouthSide Soul youth were blessed to be in the room, and when the opportunity came, they were ready to represent! 🎤🔥

Our community. Our future. Our responsibility. 🖤
