This cheongsam dress is designed and made by myself 2 years ago for the national costume segment of Miss World Singapore 2021 contest.

Inspired by my Chinese cultural heritage and Singaporean identity, I choose the silhouette of a cheongsam and the colour of our Singapore flag to best represent them. For the base of the dress, I decided to combine a sheer organza on top of a glossy sateen to illuminate a subtle shine effect. Finally, extending a huge red organza ribbon at the back to signify a celebration of my culture 🇸🇬

Fashion design is fun ❤️

Miss World Singapore 2022

Everything feels so surreal to me, it feels like a dream. Last year I joined Miss World Singapore 2021 and emerged as one of the top 6, with best hair and people’s choice award. It was my first pageant experience and definitely one that taught me the beauty of Miss World and the possibilities I can do to give back to the society. Taught me that it’s not just the title that matters but also what you do with the title. It showed me that my dreams are not as far fetched as it seems if I am not willing to give up. Riding on that mentality, I decided to give it another try at Miss World Singapore 2022 with @seanwfw and @adelynevelvet kind words at @hyperlive.tv . This time round with a more grounded mind and confidence.

For the success of this title, I would like to first thank my mother who have inspired, empowered and be the unwavering pillar of support in my life. She is a mother I am so lucky to have, she is my bestfriend as well as my sister.

Next I would like to thank all my supporters from family to friends! You guys are so so amazing. I could hear your cheers even at the backstage crystal clear 😂. At times when you guys cheer, my nervousness turned into happiness and I couldn’t stop smiling. It really reminded me how lucky I am.

I would also like to thank all the sponsors for making this such an amazing experience. @kwangsmakeup for assisting me in my makeup and outfit changing, @jericsalon @jericsee for the hair, @heng_nam_nam_boutique for all the gowns he provided and @tone_catwalk for the catwalk classes.

Finally, a congratulations to all my pageant sisters who share this memory with me, I feel extremely blessed to be surrounded by all of you. Everyone of us stood on the stage with a purpose, for the purpose. I could not wish for any better. Another congratulations to @missgerlyn and @saranyachyenne_ for being crowned Miss Intercontinental Singapore and Miss Globe Singapore respectively! I know you guys will do Singapore proud on an international stage!
