POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In different times, between the walls of what was then known as Transporterraum, a new band called @thestrokes and producer @gordonraphael got together to shape what would become a new era of rock music in New York and the world.

Then and now…the same rooms still carry the energy of the music that was created here.

It’s an honor to be home to a space that, through the years, has not only inspired amazing musicians but also paved the road for music through history.

Same rooms, same energy. This music has brought us here 🧡

Jump Phenomena started as a jam between Jimmy Goodman and me. We spent time setting up four synths, all tracking MIDI into the DAW, with the goal of capturing raw material we could later shape into full tracks.

Recording both audio and MIDI gave us freedom to experiment later, swapping stems back and forth, redesigning sounds, and automating parameters to build tension and release. During a bout of Covid, I spent a few nights editing in my bedroom, cutting and reshaping sections until the track started to feel alive.

Once we had the arrangement right, Jimmy and I mixed it together in his home studio, with his seasoned ear guiding the process. Then life happened (I became a dad, Jimmy moved to Brooklyn) and the track sat for nearly two years.

Now it’s finally out in the world, and we couldn’t be happier to share it. You can hear Jump Phenomena through the link in my bio. If it resonates with you, add it to a playlist or drop a like and follow on SoundCloud – those small gestures really do make a difference.

Jump Phenomena is out now.

The title comes from nonlinear dynamics: sudden shifts that happen after a long, steady buildup. That’s the energy of this track, which builds like it’s about to break, releases, then pulls back before the snap.

Jimmy Goodman, cofounder of TransporterRaum in NYC where The Strokes and Blonde Redhead recorded, and I built this track from a jam at Nick Cislak’s Kensington studio almost two years ago. We chopped and reshaped those recordings into something restless, volatile, and jungle-inspired.

It feels like the world right now, tension on the edge of a sudden break.

If you dig it, drop a comment and share this post, even if it’s just with one friend or family member. Every share signals the algorithm and helps the music reach more people. Thanks so much for listening and supporting.

1998, North Tower, World Trade Center 106th Floor. The Greatest Bar on Earth.

I was employed as a musician / bandleader at The Greatest Bar numerous times during the years 1998-2001. This photo is of me performing with the swing lounge band Voodoo Martini in '98. The bar was part of The Windows on the World dining and entertainment complex on the 106-107th floors of World Trade Center (North) Building One. My last music job there was in August of 2001.

These slide photos were taken by my pal Paul Kornbleau who recently discovered them in his archives. For me, seeing them is bittersweet after all of these years. Sadly, all of the staff and customers at Windows on the World perished the morning of 9/11 when Flight 11 collided into the building between floors 93 and 99.

“Gammage’s cinematic ‘Tracks of Sounds’ album is the perfect soundtrack for those of us who live in a world of femmes fatales, dark streets, potent cocktails, and a fast con. Exceptional performances from a combo of jazz up and comers make this song collection special.” ~ Downbeat

This is a photo of Cole and Raphael during a break in recording at Leopard Studios (Jimmy Goodman).
Cole Armocida wrote the music and lyrics for the album, Lifeline. Cole is also the singer and rhythm guitarist and
Raphael is the lead guitarist. Once they played together, they understood each other musically and you can hear that on the album. Energy, chemistry, and synergy are important elements when creating something together.
