And in the days of fire and fear, can I sing?
Yes.
Yes, you can sing.

Yesterday I picked red clover and oak acorns in a park before the massive rush of the streets. I miss July. I miss the forest. I miss my summer life away from the city. August is a comedown reminding us of time passing. The days getting visibly shorter. That first early smell of fall. Feelings of loss and grief. I love the bittersweetness. But the city has overwhelmed me. Group dynamics and Homo Sapiens galore. Like I’m back in a relationship that is mostly just a structure. I don’t know how to leave it, and I don’t know how to stay. It holds jobs and friends and networks. But so does nature. I tug a single thing there and I find it attached to the world. Like threads in a cosmic blanket. In nature there are not so many eyes that perceive. Everything there just go about their day. My nervous system loves that. It’s like not only me but everything around me is suddenly inherently trans and queer. Which is the truth, and one I like being close to. I think it’s my kind of Pride. Nature’s rhythm is simple: be. If I were there right now, I’d find cool shadow and peace. I’d pick up a stick and do something fun with it. A friend said they prefer solitude in nature over alienation in the city. I’m still thinking about it.

Going home
A return
Back to truth
You’re enough

Into nature
Into to us
Into cosmos
Let’s get lost

Rewilded
Bewildered
Rewarded
for the trust
