Aloha mai kakou!

During Labor Day weekend, on Sunday, na haumāna had the honor of attending a Mele and Research Workshop at Irvine Valley College @irvinevalleycollege. Kumu Leialoha Lim Amina, of the Lim ʻOhana, was the guest speaker.

The workshop offered a meaningful opportunity of a deeper understanding of hula, mele, history, and the importance of preserving ancestral knowledge and cultural traditions. Na haumāna also learned a hula choreographed by Kumu Leialoha.

After the workshop, we were invited to visit the Hawaiian art exhibit on campus. It was a great addition to what we just learned at the workshop.

The evening concluded with a beautiful celebration featuring past participants of E Hula Mau. Guests performers included Halau ʻO Lilinoe A Me Na Pua Me Kealoha @halauolilinoecalifornia , Halau Na Pua Lehua I Ka Ua Noe @halau_na_pua_lehua, Halau Hula a Kawika Laua o Leinani @dahulastudio, Le Polynesia @lepolynesia, and Kalika Trio, whom introduced Kumu Leialoha and fellow workshop participants to share the stage together and performed the hula she taught at the workshop!

Hula is more than dance—it is culture, history, connection, and legacy. And the exciting announcement… E Hula Mau 2027 has a new home!
