How I spent a truly extraordinary day in Dakar! 🌟 🛥️ Taking a private boat from @terroubiresort to Gorée Island - a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the most poignant reminders of the slave trade. 🌺 Embarking on a guided tour of the island steeped in history, loss and enchanting beauty. 🥘 And a return to the resort for a fabulous Sunday brunch that was a celebration of the senses. 🔥 💌 I’ve shared the full story in my latest newsletter, now live on Substack. I hope it sparks your curiosity to explore this remarkable corner of the world. Much more to come including my full itinerary from an inspiring visit to Senegal. 🇸🇳 Thanks to @terroubiresort conciergerie team for organising such a unique experience and memorable stay. ⭐️ #dakar #senegal #goreeisland #visitsenegal #foodandtravel

Happy Easter from Dakar, Senegal. 🇸🇳 Here’s a day I’ll never forget. Aboard a private boat from @terroubiresort marina, we glided across the rushing ocean to Gorée Island. 🏝️🛥️ Touring the slave houses, my excitement turned to profound sadness, then softened into a quiet, reflective calm as I walked across the island, met the locals, coincidentally joined a mass procession ad dipped my feet into the waters. Life, death and all that endures in between and beyond were never more present. This island, where so much was lost and the memories of our enslaved ancestors remain, has transformed from a place of unbearable loss to one that radiates colour, warmth, and quiet enchantment. You have to experience it! 🌺 The essence of Easter lies in its promise: after sacrifice and loss, life prevails, time and again. Just as Christ has risen. ❤️ A heartwarming day, thoughtfully organised by @terroubiresort conciergerie, and concluded back at the resort with a fantastic Sunday brunch setting the tone for an unforgettable Easter week ahead. ⭐️ #travelwithme #dakarsenegal #goreeisland #terroubi #easter2026

The teacher becomes a student… and what a delicious lesson it was! 🔥 Thanks to @chefnormanmusa @tourismmalaysia_uk @divertimenti for a fantastic masterclass in Malaysian cooking. His recipes were right up my street full of fragrant spices, layered flavours, and exquisite techniques from the spring rolls to curry puffs, crispy dumplings, prawn tempura and lip smackingly good prawn noodle soup! The class was also a reminder of how much food connects us all as some flavours even echoed South African Malay cooking. Now all that’s left is for me to visit Malaysia. 💃🏽🔥 🌟 Newsflash! 🌟 I’m excited to be teaching my Africana masterclass at Divertimenti, Knightsbridge, this April, where we’ll celebrate bold West African flavours as we cook together! Book your place now and I’ll see you there. 🍲 #invite #divertimenti #cookeryclass #malaysianfood #cookingfromscratch

Best radio face on with this lovely bunch for the new series of @bbcradio4 The Kitchen Cabinet. I was delighted to be asked back on this brilliant radio show as a panellist alongside the stellar cast of panellists @dranniegray @leratofoods and chef Rob Owen Brown. There’s some quick prep amidst chatting backstage before we bundle backstage while the brilliant @jayrayner1 get the crowd going. He then navigates the crowd, the panellists, the production team and the conversation. If there was ever proof needed that a man can multi task, this is it. We talked food worth waiting for, broad bean gluts, flour, custard and more. I tried Teff flour for the first time as Lerato brought pancakes along and they were nutty with a lovely bite and savoury way about them. I’m very proud I got to say “double legume hell” on national radio so if you fancy a listen, please hit the profile link. Thank you for having me guys. #bbcradio4 #thekitchencabinet #tkc #ashfordkent

June was the month I decided to start working my way through my cookbook collection, by selecting one book and one recipe a week, and making some simple content to share here each week from the process, always on a Monday. It was a brilliant decision in many more ways than one; -I’ve loved having an excuse to spend time with my cookbooks as well as making time to cook for myself properly, rather than just grabbing some random leftovers from my fridge. I’ve even enjoyed the shopping bit, going out to find the ingredients I need. -I’ve learned about different techniques and flavours from four different cuisines. -I’ve even kept to a social media posting schedule with this, which I am notoriously useless at! -While things are a bit stressful and all over the place with my business at the moment its been something to ground me and look forward to each week, as well as reminding me how much I love cooking. -Everything I have made has been utterly delicious, which is always a mood booster in itself! In June I chose 4 books by 4 great women that look at 4 different cuisines, so without realising it, I’ve started a theme. In July the theme is going to change a little - I’ll share what that is when I share my post on Monday… In the meantime, do checkout my previous cookbook corner reels. The four cookbooks and dishes I cooked were; ⭐️Made in Bangladesh by @dinasfoodstory - a rich and creamy chicken in coconut milk ⭐️Kapusta by @alissatimoshkina - summery rice stuffed peppers ⭐️Caribe by @sakarah_ - a delightful seafood Antillean pumpkin soup ⭐️ Africana by @leratofoods - a fragrant grilled fish in makrut lime marinade and a watermelon salad Have you tried any good cookbooks recently? (Feel free to say mine - ha ha). See you for the next post on Monday eve! Ceri x #cookbookcorner #recipes #foodwriting

🐟 the freshest seafood in the world ⭐️ essaouira fish & spice market is the place to inhale the sea and walk into a grilling ceremony. you pick your catch fresh off the boats, hand it to the grill master, and watch it transform into charcoal‑kissed perfection seconds later 🍴 we got grilled fish served with a crisp, tangy moroccan salad and what might be the crispiest, tastiest fries ever imagined. the calamari was next level—infused with that briny seawater saltiness, chewy in all the right ways. 🤤 i wish we could’ve tried more, but this is absolutely a must-do in essaouira. i wish i had more time to come back and try more of their fresh fish, straight from the port ✨ if you’re in town, don’t skip this. its an unforgettable experience and the market next door is perfect for a post-meal stroll #essaouira #moroccofoodie #fishmarket #seafoodlover #coastaleats #grilledfish #moroccansalad #crispyfries #freshcatch #travelmorocco #foodtravel #medinadining #hiddenfoodgems #streetfood #tasteofmorocco #foodstagram #seafoodmarket #culinarytravel #eatsaouira #travelfoodie #localfood #bucketlistfood #wanderlustfood #gastronomy #marketfood #summertravels #coastaleats #foodandtravel #destinationdining
