European player development must be intertwined with American player development.

The creativity, athleticism, freedom, and one-on-one ability developed in the American game should be connected with the movement, footwork, spacing, timing, patience, and decision-making emphasized in European development.

It shouldn’t be one style versus the other.

The formula is in the combination.

Develop players who can create individually but also understand how to move without the ball. Players who can break a defender down but also manipulate an entire defense. Players who have skill, but also understand timing, angles, rhythm, and space.

The future of player development is not about choosing one system.

It’s about taking the strongest principles from both and building a more complete basketball player. @lesly_hoops

Footwork is about teaching your feet how to have eyes.

Your eyes read the defense, but your feet navigate the space, shift defenders, create angles, and find openings.

When your feet can recognize space and react to what the defense gives you, it’s like having another set of eyes on the floor.

That’s what makes a player lethal.

Great footwork isn’t just movement it’s vision through your feet. @lesly_hoops
