Mega 2024 memories and highlights. It was 102 degrees for 3 days straight and we got stuck in a thunderstorm of epic proportions. Will never ever forget this one. Can’t wait for all the new memories that we’ll all make this weekend. See you all soon. #megamidsouth #unlearnpavement

Colorado Trail Race attempt and since…

CTR

CTR - I barely scratched the surface of this route. I’ll be back!

Lost BOTH of my brakes by the morning of day 2. A common issue with these XT levers unbeknownst to me at the time, where the master cylinder cracks and causes a tiny leak. Both brakes coincidentally crapped out completely by the morning of day 2 with no fluid in the lines

Both brakes were gone as I started to go down the first descent of the day. I panicked and put my foot in the back tire to stop. Knobby tires + knobby shoes = my foot got sucked in backwards between the wheel and the seat stay (it shouldn’t fit there). Walked and strider biked myself another 10 miles before scratching from the race. Got it checked out at urgent care, and X-rays showed no broken bones. I never got an MRI done, because yay healthcare 🇺🇸, but there were most definitely some things torn in there

Upside - we got to stay here for a night

…and see the Colorado Nick exhibit in Colorado Springs

Time off the bike means more time to help friends with work stuff

Here we are 2 months post ankle injury, and it is “good, not great.”
Mega Mid South conflicted with the Arizona Trail Race, but the ankle injury has taken longer to heal than expected so no AZTR this year. The goals have pivoted for the rest of the year.
@lesterhasmadstyle had the idea to add all 30 miles of the McMurtry singletrack in the middle of the 300 mile Mega Mid South route. There’s hardly any walking on this route, so I THINK that the ankle will be okay. Taking it easy and we’ll see what happens! Oct 17 start
