Right now, there are plans to build border wall infrastructure through parts of the Big Bend region — including stretches of fragile desert and river corridor near the park. That construction would mean roads, barriers, and disruption in one of the most delicate ecosystems in North America.

Big Bend isn’t empty land.
It’s migration routes for wildlife.
It’s floodplains shaped by the river.
It’s desert soil that takes decades to recover from disturbance.
It’s silence and dark skies found nowhere else in the world
It’s teeming with life, existing in perfect harmony and balance

Once this balance is disrupted, it can’t simply be restored

This isn’t about politics to me. It’s about preserving a unique and fragile ecosystem. Big Bend holds two versions of me: the man I was becoming, and the man I am today. I proposed to the love of my life right here at Santa Elena Canyon, a place that could be lost.

I want this canyon — these cliffs, this silence, this river — to still be here decades from now. For us. For our future family. For anyone who needs a place that reminds them who they are.

If Big Bend has ever meant something to you, please consider signing the petition in my bio to help preserve it.
