$Let’s discuss adidas ENERGY RIM ‼️ — Same concept, different setups — Four shoes, one concept: Prime X Evo, Adios Pro Evo 3 (incl. Dev 2), Agravic Evo and Adios Pro 5. Instead of ENERGY RODS beneath the foot, a carbon-infused U-shaped rim runs around the midsole. But its thickness and S-curve geometry vary significantly. 📍 The S-curve matters Our measured ENERGY RIM heights above ground (heel / forefoot): • Adios Pro Evo 3: 31.5 / 14.5 mm → 17 mm difference • Agravic Evo: 30 / 13 mm → 17 mm • Adios Pro 5: 38 / 12.5 mm → 25.5 mm Look at the photo. On the Pro 5, the rim sits high at the heel, then sweeps down close to the ground at the forefoot. This is rim height—not stack height or heel-to-toe drop. Combined with its earlier rocker, this more pronounced S-curve contributes to the Pro 5’s forward-rolling, cruising ride. 📍 Same concept, different feel ENERGY RODS remind us of a manual gearbox: load, snap, accelerate. ENERGY RIM feels more like an automatic with cruise control—smoother, more continuous momentum. 📍 Stability Pleasant surprise. Our Shore A readings (top/bottom) were: •Prime X Evo 10/10 •Evo 3 15/15 •Agravic Evo 30/30 •Pro 5 30/25 Despite its softer 25A bottom foam, Pro 5 feels supportive underfoot. Foam hardness alone doesn’t describe the stiffness of the whole midsole. 📍Rim Thickness Measured rim thickness also differs: •Evo 3 1.5 mm •Agravic Evo 5 mm heel / 3 mm forefoot •Pro 5 1.5 / 2 mm. Thickness matters to bending stiffness, but geometry and material matter too. 📍 Forefoot foam fracture — engineering hypothesis At just 12.5 mm above ground, Pro 5’s forefoot rim sits relatively low. Could differing deformation between the stiff rim and soft foam, combined with repeated shear and bending, contribute to reported lateral-forefoot tears? Possibly—but this is NOT a confirmed root cause. Foam scuffing and actual fracture are different issues. More testing is needed. We’re sharing measurements and a possible explanation, not a definitive conclusion. What do you think? #outrunTH #adidasRunning #Adizero #ENERGYRIM$
