Finding truly dedicated gluten-free restaurants can be tough, but I’ve discovered some hidden gems in the Chicago suburbs, all thanks to Sansglu! It’s like having a celiac bestie who already checked every restaurant for you 📲 link in bio.

Here are a few spots worth checking out:

1. Ugly Noodle, Geneva
Lauren Serviss, who grew up in Geneva and has gluten sensitivity, opened this dedicated gluten-free pasta deli last December. She spent three years perfecting her ravioli dough! You can find bronze-drawn fresh pasta, handmade pierogi, ravioli, and sandwiches, all based on her grandmothers’ Krakow and Sicilian recipes.
Open Wednesday to Saturday 10 AM - 4 PM, Sunday 11 AM - 3 PM.

2. Sweet Ali’s, Hinsdale
Ali Graeme, whose son also has celiac disease, has been running this certified gluten-free bakery since 2009. Their famous cookie cake started as a happy accident with an over-sugared dough and is now a must-try!
Open Tuesday to Saturday from 9 AM.

3. Baby Doll Bakery, Wheaton
Nicole, a regular at the former Sweet Natalie’s, took over in 2020 and transformed it into a dedicated gluten-free bakery. They offer delicious peanut butter cupcakes, lavender lemon cupcakes, and cinnamon buns, plus a selection of goods from other dedicated GF kitchens around Chicago.
Open Wednesday to Saturday.

I don’t think I’ve properly introduced myself, Chicago…

Hi 👋 I’m Marissa, a hairstylist living/working in Chicago—a city I’ve only recently discovered is the best in the world. Why? I moved here just nine months ago.

I’m a Midwest girl through and through, born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. But my dog Pua and I figured life is meant to be experienced, so we packed our bags and headed to the big city.

A few things I love: my Great Value Dalmatian, Pua; cooking elaborate meals that take all day and leave a huge mess; moving my body in whatever way feels right—running, yoga, or often long walks by the lake; my friends, a great cocktail (on a patio obvi) , live music, anywhere/ any kind but probably not country, books ranging from historical fiction to dragon smut, and definitely sunshine. Oh, and yapping… obviously.

I’ve wanted to be a hairstylist for as long as I can remember because I’m passionate about helping people show up in the world feeling like the most beautiful version of themselves. Creating a space where anyone—regardless of who they are or where they come from—can feel authentic, beautiful, and loved is my dream, and I’m lucky enough to live it every day.

I specialize in lived-in, low-maintenance color, customized haircuts, and expert consultations. Every service is tailored to your features, lifestyle, budget, and, most importantly, what you think is beautiful.
