We went from body warmups to gathering as much waste and recyclables as we could at Mile 12 Market.

World Clean Up Day 2026 was a success, but it definitely doesn’t stop there. It should be an everyday routine.

The question is, "what are you doing to reduce food waste?"

From Clean Plates to Clean Cities 👌

Today, we celebrate Nigeria, her people, her resilience, her diversity, and the hope for a better tomorrow.
@samcleansinitiative , we believe that the Nigeria we want begins with the communities we live in.

A cleaner street.
A restored community.
A responsible citizen.
A young person choosing to make a difference.

These may seem like small actions, but together, they create lasting change. 🌍

This Independence Day, let’s remember that freedom comes with responsibility including the responsibility to care for our environment.

Here’s to a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Nigeria. 🇳🇬💚

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!

Five Saturdays. Different locations. Dirty streets, clogged drainages, piles of waste and people who decided that something had to be done.

What started as a cleanup became a journey of restoration.

From Olaotan Bus Stop, to Oju Ore Coca-Cola Road, and finally Gasline Bus Stop, we showed up week after week not because the work was easy, but because we believed our communities deserved better.

Together, we recovered over 15,871kg of waste from our communities. But beyond the numbers, what truly stands out are the people.

To every volunteer who showed up:
Thank you for giving your time, your energy, your Saturday mornings, and your hands to this mission. Some came once, some came every week, but every contribution mattered.

To our partners and supporters: @letsdoitnigeria
@venusrecyclingservices , @acinigeria @rotaract_ota @ogun_ogwama ,@letsdoitnigeria , and every organization, individual and community stakeholder who supported this journey thank you for believing in the vision and helping us turn action into impact.

And to everyone who saw us on the streets, encouraged us, joined us, provided support, or simply asked, “How can I help?” we see you, and we appreciate you.

This wasn’t just about picking up waste.

It was about proving that when people come together, a community can change.

Five Saturdays of restoration.
One community at a time.
One action at a time.

Not my trash. Still my planet. 🌍

Thank you, Ota.
Thank you to every volunteer.
Thank you to every partner.
Together, we strive for five. ❤️

Meet the girl who does not...

SHOW UP for nothing!

I was privileged to join 500+ Changemakers and environmental enthusiasts for the 2026 World Cleanup Day on September 19, organised by Plogging Nigeria @plogging.nigeria powered by the Nigerian Waste Management Directory (NIWAD) @niwad.ng.

As earlier announced, THIS year’s theme, “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities: Healthy Food Systems, Clean Environment, Thriving Communities,” reminded us that waste is more than what we see on the streets.

Should you not know...

Over 1 billion meals are wasted every day, while food waste contributes about 8–10% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

So, while we talk about climate change and cleaner cities, we must also talk about the choices that create waste in the first place.

At my locality, University of Ibadan, I joined the Oduduwa Group from the four subdivisions for wider coverage. We cleaned the Sango axis, picking up waste and promoting responsible disposal.

Together 🤝, we collected over 9,000kg of waste, including 900 trash bags, 50 heavy-duty bags and 39 sacks across the cleanup effort.

Was it hectic? Absolutely😅
Was it worth it? Every bit.

Because if we don't do it, who will?
If not now, when?
If not you, who?

Again, World Cleanup Day is a reminder that REAL change is not a one-day event. It is a DAILY CHOICE to waste less, dispose responsibly, PROTECT our environment and LEAD by example.

Let's take urgent ACTion on the trash talk.

BE part of the solution, not the pollution.
Nurture nature so we can have a better future.

And guess what?
Sometimes, impact begins with ONE person deciding to SHOW UP.

Kudos to @plogging.nigeria, Partners et Sponsors for making this possible. Keep creating spaces where service, connection and impact happens.

So what next? Slide 11⏩ got the premium gist.

PS: Did you join in the commemoration or are you just knowing a day like this exists?🤔

World Cleanup Day? We understood the assignment. 🧤🌍

Ploggas stepped out with a simple mission toget our hands dirty and leave our surroundings better than we found them.

Bags came out. Gloves went on. Waste started disappearing.

And somewhere between the picking, laughing, sweating and “who put this here?” moments, we got reminded of why we keep doing this.

Here’s a little look at World Cleanup Day with ABU Ploggas . 💚

🌍 THEWASTEROOM — EPISODE 2 IS HERE! 🎙️

What happens when the people behind @worldcleanupday.global sit down to talk about the future of our communities?

We’re finding out!

For Episode 2 of TheWasteRoom, we’re excited to welcome Mr. Olumide Coker, @cokolu1 Country Leader, @letsdoitnigeria the country organization driving the World Cleanup Day movement in Nigeria.

This conversation goes beyond picking up waste.
We’re asking the bigger question:

AFTER THE CLEANUP, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

How do we turn one-day action into lasting change?

How do we keep communities clean after the volunteers leave?

What role do citizens, government, organizations, and young people play?

And how can movements like World Cleanup Day become more than just a day on the calendar?

The energy was something else! Beyond picking up waste and restoring our community, we had an incredible time dancing, playing games, vibing with our hype man, and creating unforgettable memories. 😂💃🏽

This wasn’t just a cleanup, it was an experience!

We’re on a mission to take the gospel of environmental responsibility to the world, one community at a time.

Because protecting our planet should be something we live, enjoy, and do together.

Not my trash. Still my planet.

A day I will not forget in a hurry.

On Saturday, I had the privilege of facilitating World Cleanup Day 2026 in Samo Seje, Badagry, alongside SEAL Initiative and the Rotaract Club of Badagry.

We brought together 55 students and volunteers from four secondary schools for a day of environmental education, community service, teamwork, and practical cleanup.

I facilitated the orientation session, helping the students understand the cleanup process, safety procedures, proper waste collection, teamwork, and why taking care of our environment is a responsibility we all share.

But what made the day special was seeing the students move from listening to taking action.

They worked together, cleaned their environment, learned from one another, made new connections, and experienced the value of serving their community.

We also had an insightful environmental education session with Azubike Emmanuel Ogechukwu, who challenged the students with the Five-Finger Promise:

I Will Not Litter. I Will Use the Bin. I Will Keep People Safe. I Will Care for Nature. I Will Tell a Friend.

For me, this was more than a cleanup.

It was about raising young people who understand that they can contribute to the change they want to see in their communities.

Clean environment. Responsible citizens. Lasting impact.

I am grateful to every school, teacher, volunteer, partner, and individual who made this possible.

This is the kind of impact I want to keep building through service and community development.

First time actively participating in a community buyback program and I had such a great time. 🤭💚

As part of the activities marking World Cleanup Day 2026, I got to see firsthand how recycling initiatives can engage communities and encourage responsible waste management.

Such an eye-opening experience. Thank you to @fbralliance and @letsdoitnigeria for putting this together. 💚
