POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

10 years of DGBTD - can ya believe it????? Time flies when you're rockin out with your buds.

Dear God, Bring The Doom was conceived with engineer Brian Fox at Two States Audio, recorded live with minimal overdubs in two days to best capture the urgency and intensity of live shows.

We have less than 10 first pressings remaining put out by @sweetpete85 @letspretendrecords available on our bandcamp!

It’s been a little quiet over here, but we’ve got a new 5 song EP coming out November 6 via @letspretendrecords and all our band money. We pressed 100 one sided 12” records that’ll be available at the release show at @squarecatvinyl with our dear friends @moongoonstunes and Cincy’s @gggremlinnn and they’ll be on bandcamp as well. This is most likely gonna be our last release, so come hang while ya can. We’ll be playing a handful of shows in November in support of this thing. HTs have had many versions over the years and it’s always been fun as shit. Thanks for listening y’all.

“Man of Steel” off my new album Very Special People—out now on @letspretendrecords !

She always tries her best
But he’s rigid and obsessed
And nothing’s ever good enough
For the man whose past he clings to
Day in and all day out
He barks, stomps, and shouts
Not once does he ever doubt

One of the few albums out in 2025 that got me listening again and again. @kaiteldridge 's Very Special People LP, released on @letspretendrecords in November. Kait and I go back to a time of reckless road dawging. We spent months in cruddy vans and dank basements playing rock n roll together in a certain pre-whateverthehellwe'relivinginrightnow world. It was a freewheeling world of intentional abandon that valued attitude and skill in separate but equal measure. Kait's bands have always been in a special class that conquers both. I've been lucky to experience it and even at times, play a small part in it.

Last year she released her second solo album. It's got the tell-tale marks of solo work: tightly controlled pop songs, restraint in the arrangements, production, and performance. As she's stepped into sonic solitude, her cynicism has changed form from loud, confrontational angst [ala Cheeky's "Choke On A Cheeseburger"] to guarded observation. Coupled with chord progressions that sound more like she's digging from Elliott Smith's influences like The Left Banke and Andy Pratt than from Elliott himself (there's always one of two reasons why one artist's work holds some resemblance to another's), Very Special People feels introspective compared to the malice of her earlier work. This is amplified by synthesizer-led interlude compositions, and in a general sense: the way the lyrics weave shadowy narratives with simple language, as if she were faintly whispering her worries to herself.

It's a great work from start to finish, but for those who are impatient and want those big pop melodies, drop the needle on 'Man Of Steel' and 'Like A Bull' first, then go back and play em on 33rpm for exaggerated emotional impact. Cuz this sucker's pressed at 45!!
