Exodus 8:8,15,28,32 - Lord, I’m not sure of what was entirely in Pharaoh’s heart when he decided to not surrender to You. Pride, envy, lust, fear/timidity, or if we he was just completely hijacked by a demonic presence….but I pray we never come to this. I pray, that we never come to a place, where we acknowledge you as One that can answer others’ prayers, but not our own. I pray that we don’t distance ourselves from You in a manner that pulls us away from being able to converse with You, to be able to pray without ceasing, knowing you hear everything. I pray that we don’t distinguish ourselves in our false identities, to the point we cannot be identified as Your people. I pray that we don’t have a mindset that deals in “taking life into our own hands,” in a manner that departs from You or blasphemes Your Holy Spirit. I’m aware this is Old Testament vs. New Testament Lord, but I still lay this at your feet, that while we all have the capability of being a “Pharaoh”…..we have and accept the promise from You of being Your children, redeemed in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Pet Name: Calhoun (Cal)

Haggai 1:2-6 - Lord God…help me, help us all to deeply consider our ways in respect to things of Your kingdom…in respect to You. I don’t want to say, “it’s not time,” just because I want to enjoy the “nice things” a little longer. I don’t want to stop building a temple for you (mind/body/soul), for the sake of building a lavish life of on this earth (without You) that I ignorantly believe will last forever, or will even make my life on this earth entirely better. Rid me, rid us all from the lie that a lavish life automatically means “blessing,”…especially if we only have our own comfort in mind, at the forefront of pursuing any “fortune.”

While I know there is life in eternity with you in heaven, beyond this earth…it’s this earth, this world, that I live in and has its distractions, its “pull.” I confess with my mouth, that You Jesus, are Lord, are Lord of my life. Help me Holy Spirit, not to live a life for me, but for Him, my Father in Heaven. Do this, in Jesus’ name, so that He may be pleased and glorified. Amen.

Matthew 3:2,8,11 - Lord, with this word, it’s hard to be honest and say that in the past…I may have chosen to surrender my life out of fear of judgment or even out of wanting only the benefits to what Your kingdom has to offer. As I reflect now, and I reflect on Your bride…how many are willing to say that this is or was the case? I don’t say this to be boastful, I say this to thank You for Your never-ending supply of grace, love, mercy, and wisdom. I can now say, that my life is Yours, so that I may be changed, for the sake of Your name and glory…not my own. My hope and my prayer, is that we all (still including me), examine ourselves accordingly (1 Corinthians 11:27-32), so that we don’t hear that You never knew us (Matthew 7:21-23). This choice is not a convenient matter. While we have so much to gain in living a life in You Jesus…we also have a lot to lose (Matthew 10:37-39). Show us the way toward and on the narrow, so that we don’t lose our way back to and on the wide. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Matthew 1:24-25/Matthew 2:13-15 - Lord God…what does it entirely mean to have “free will?” Both times You told Joseph what to do, and he did it. The questions begs…what if he didn’t? You also called Joseph a “righteous man,” which means to be in “right standing” with You. When there is a realization, a revelation of something, of someone so profound…is it even a choice that point? Are we being honest with ourselves in recognizing that we don’t even want the burden of choice? I don’t Lord, truly. I’ve seen a life without You, and I’ve seen only a glimpse of your goodness, and I can say now Lord…”I’s not even a choice….let Your will (not mine) be done.” I want to be able to look at, recognize disobedience/evil, and think (by Your grace, mercy, power), “It’s not even a choice….” In Jesus’ name, amen.

Matthew 2:1-6 - Lord, Holy Spirit, help me to never lose sight of the hope that is, and only is in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Don’t let the wickedness of this world keep me in darkness that I would be “disturbed” by any of your truths. Don’t let me lose my childlike faith that would “follow stars” that lead me to You. I repent of all my wrong thinking Lord, and I seek to surrender all that I am to You. Help me, to bear gifts, fruit, much of it, that is pleasing to You. Have mercy on me, forgive me, and may Your name be glorified in all the earth. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Matthew 1:18-25 - Lord God, I read this and recognize that even my understanding of the level of purity you dealt in when it came to the birth of our Lord and Savior, Your Son, doesn’t even begin to really comprehend the majesty that is Jesus Christ. You, who are perfect and only consist of goodness, used Your Holy Spirit, to miraculously/instantly cause a virgin (untouched by man and willing) woman to get pregnant without natural means. Then, the husband, to whom you confirmed by Your Spirit AND Your word/scripture/prophesy written, made a willing choice to not touch his wife until Jesus was born. My God, this is impossible….granted….”With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭26‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

Thank you for the impossible purity Lord. In Jesus mighty name, amen.

Matthew 16:21-28 - Lord God, Father in Heaven…this truth is becoming clearer than it ever has, and it’s becoming even more unavoidable as time and efforts go on. A meaning for the name “Satan,” is and can be simply put as “adversary, opposer, disagree.” Honestly Lord…how many times have I opposed your will for my life, disagreed with your words, and have acted adversely from what your instruction says? Too many times to count Lord…but by your grace and mercy, I repent (change my mind). It’s a sensitive part of what it means to be a follower of Christ Jesus, especially in the context of these scriptures. Praying to You right now Lord, I’m already thinking of things that are of interests to me, that I would hate to “lose” or “leave behind,” for the sake of Your will, that the world would persecute me metaphorically, and or literally. With that said Lord…I am willing. In spite of my fears, in spite of my concerns….but more so in complete hope in You, who You are, and You being able to take care of all things, of those whom I care about deeply and never want to be without…of her Lord, my beautiful, amazing, lovely wife. My life is no longer (and never was) my own Lord…and I trust You with it. Let all that I am praise You Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Matthew 16: 13-17 - Lord, in this scripture, you ask “what do people say about the ‘Son of Man,’” as if this is something that they knew about or heard of? In previous scripture (Matt 16:5-12) you said, “Be aware of the leaven (the teaching) of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” In conjunction with Matt 16:13-17, there seems to be an indication that the people were taught on the “Son of Man,” but yet…they could not discern You. Is this to suggest or say that the Pharisees and Sadducees led people astray into confusion with their teachings so much, that even with the signs and wonders that accompanied Your fulfilled prophecies…the people were bloated, full of, raised up with this “leaven,” that they couldn’t see You or discern/know who You were? Have mercy on us Lord, and be as clear to us about everything you say and what, better than You did for Peter. May we be as “clean” as “unleavened” bread, for the sake of being an apart of what you have in store for our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Matthew 16:1-4 - Lord God, while Jesus was still on this earth, he told the Pharisees and Sadducees that they ultimately “could not discern the times.” The question begs Lord, without the Holy Spirit, what could they have used to discern properly? What truth could they have leaned on, to operate in this discernment? I’m no theologian, nor do I claim to understand everything about your word now, but what they did have, was your word. They had scrolls/scriptures that told them the truth about Your son, the truth and coming of Jesus, The Messiah. Now, in this time, we not only have your word…we have Your Holy Spirit. My God, may we, may I not be ignorant to your word, and help me to dive deeper, so that I may “discern the times.” I want to distinguish what is right and wrong, not because of anything that is going to vindicate, validate, promote me in a way that only serves me (as a Pharisee/Sadducee), but in a manner that glorifies You and Your goodness. Have mercy on us Lord, as we operate in Your Grace, to live by discernment of Your holy word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
