Up and at it with the sunrise and without too much effort a couple of rabbits taken with the BMR-X.

I was out with my new Mjoelner backpack, having picked it out on the Unity Distribution stand at the Yorkshire Shooting Show.

Slim and with a handy 18 litres capacity it’s ideal for carrying a rifle over the shoulder. It also has its own rifle carry system which is actually one of the better ones I’ve tried.

With pockets on the sides and plenty of tie down points it can carry a lot for such a small pack, and I really like how the main compartment can be accessed from the top and bottom, with a handy divider creating two separate spaces. It can also be opened to create one large space, though I preferred to keep the two separate spaces, using the bottom part for my shooting mat and other bits and the top part for carrying the rabbits with room to spare for a couple more.

2014–2024 | Accuracy International AT308 -- The Evolution of Arctic Warfare

Introduced in 2014, the Accuracy International AT308 (Accuracy Tactical) marked a major evolution of the British manufacturer's legendary Arctic Warfare rifle family. Often overshadowed by the AW308 and AX series, it combined the AW's proven architecture with technological developments from AI's participation in USSOCOM's Precision Sniper Rifle (PSR) program.

Beginning in 2009, the PSR competition challenged manufacturers to develop modular sniper systems capable of operating across multiple calibres. Although Remington ultimately secured the contract in 2013, Accuracy International's engineering investment produced the AX PSR and influenced the development of its next generation of rifles. Company director Tom Irwin subsequently credited the PSR program with transforming AI's product range.

The AT308 emerged from this development alongside the revised AX308, with both rifles sharing the same updated short action. Replacing the AW's traditional three-lug arrangement, the AT employed a 20mm-diameter, six-lug bolt with a 60-degree throw, together with AI's Quickloc barrel system. The latter permitted barrel replacement without conventional gunsmithing, using a single clamping screw and hex key.

Retaining the AW's rigid, bolted-and-bonded steel receiver and aluminium chassis construction, the AT incorporated modern STANAG optics mounting, KeySlot accessory interfaces, improved ergonomics, and an adjustable two-stage trigger. Its familiar appearance concealed substantial mechanical evolution.

With the AW and AE ranges discontinued in 2013, the AT308 carried the Arctic Warfare lineage into a new generation, offering much of the AX308's mechanical sophistication within a traditional AI stock configuration.

Discontinued following the introduction of the AT-X MIL/LE in 2024, the AT308 remains an understated chapter in Accuracy International's history: not simply a successor to the AW308, but a culmination of decades of refinement informed by modern military requirements.

It’s now been 2 years directing NRL Hunter UK matches but this was the first time putting on a two-day centrefire match, and it just happened to be our 2026 Grand Slam!

We didn’t go into the weekend with the perfect conditions but between Simon, myself, the excellent staff at Orion Firearms Training and some glorious weather, we put on a match that had everyone smiling.

The match also had a little bit of a personal feel to it for me, with my fellow Bergara team mates from France, @optimus_and_us and @gaetan_cussac joining us from across the channel to shoot in Teams Division and Bergara also sponsoring the match. I felt right at home!

I love the community we have built here in the UK. Hunters, target shooters, the firearms industry and range operators all coming together to support the sport we enjoy and promote our way of life and the benefits it brings to everyone. Long may it continue!

The USA’s IPRF Open podium sweep is OVER. 🥈🇬🇧

After all-American podiums in 2022 and 2024, Britain’s Joe Pask made history as the first non-US shooter to earn Open silver.

189 hits out of 200. Just 2 behind Open Champion Austin Buschman!!!

Watch Joe Pask take on “Rockin’ Diamonds,” Stage 10 at the 2026 IPRF World Championship at @shootgravestone in Lipan, TX.

The challenge: engage the big diamond, then the small diamond, from five different rocks … all within 105 seconds. Both targets are at 652 yards! Shooters could choose any rock, but couldn’t reuse one.

Congrats, Joe! Incredible shooting! 👏🔥🔥

Took some time out this morning to test some .22lr ammo in the BMR-X. I started out with my usual pick, SK Match, which at 50 meters was grouping quite nicely. I then did 5x10 round groups with each of RWS Subsonic HP, RWS Club, Eley Subsonic HP and Norma Tac 22, which was a box of everything my local RFD had on the shelf when I popped in on Saturday.

The difference between the hollow point and round nosed ammo was clear to see, my rifle really not liking the RWS and Eley. The Norma was probably next best, then the RWS Club, but none of the ammo I tried could match the SK Match.

250 rounds later I stepped back to 100 meters for some practice off my Mjoelner Fenris II aluminium quad sticks. They’ve always been a very stable set of sticks but I was feeling rusty after not been out much with the rifle over summer and it was clear I needed the practice!

Can’t believe it’s October! Between house moves and other things I’ve hardly been out with the rifle this summer so it’s great to be able to enjoy a hunt before the weather changes.

I think I’ll go out again tomorrow!

🇮🇪🎯 A BIG THANK YOU! 🎯🇮🇪

Now that the dust has settled after the Worlds, I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported me in any way along the journey.

Every message, shout-out, bit of advice, helping hand, kind word and bit of encouragement genuinely means a lot to me. There are far too many people to mention individually, but please know that none of it goes unnoticed or unappreciated. 🙌

A very special thank you has to go to my wife, Susanna. ❤️

For supporting me in absolutely everything I throw myself into, for travelling halfway across the world with me, being there cheering me on and helping me through the shooting days. Keeping me calm, hydrated, fed and positive when I needed it! 😂

Having you there beside me makes these experiences even better. I already can’t wait for the next one and for all the matches, events, trips and memories still to come together. ❤️

To all the companies, sponsors, friends and people who support me and what I do — thank you. Your support gives me the opportunity and motivation to keep pushing myself and striving to be the best version of myself.

I always try to represent those who support me as best I can, while still being myself. Whatever I’m doing, I give it everything I have and try to put my best into it. 🎯💪

A massive thank you as well to everyone in Squad 23! 🤝

New friends and old friends — it was absolutely brilliant getting to know ye, shooting alongside ye and sharing 20 stages together. Thanks for all the help, advice, encouragement, laughs and friendly banter along the way.

That’s one of the best things about this sport — the people you meet and the friendships you make.

Hopefully I’ll get to shoot alongside ye again somewhere down the road, or at the very least bump into ye at another match somewhere in the world! 🌎🎯

The amount of support, help, advice, resources, encouragement, kind words and friendly banter I’ve received throughout this whole experience has honestly been incredible.

I can’t thank everyone enough.
