Tonight I’ll be performing a very special show at @masonictempleasheville alongside this wonderful and talented group of humans.

My experience working with @crescent_choir has changed the way I think about making music. As many of you know, I’ve spent the better part of the last decade working as a solo artist, so this has been a total 180° from that! It has been such an honor to reimagine my songs for this 26+ person ensemble. This is so much more than a choir. This group is a moving, shifting, multi-organismic instrument of tenderness, healing, warmth, and reverence.

Tonight we’ll be performing music from nine different WNC artists, including 3 of my own songs from my forthcoming album.

This was my first time arranging for a full ensemble like this. So, naturally, I took that as far as I could reasonably take it 😏

The arrangements for my songs are ambitious, to say the least, especially given that we only had a 6 week window in which to create and learn them.

It’s also worth acknowledging that several of our choir members (myself included) have done this while battling complex health conditions. This group rose to those challenges with such grace, holding each other all the way, and further suffusing this music with meaning in ways I could never have imagined. I could not be more proud of us for what we’ve accomplished together.

Yesterday we performed at Rare Bird Farm’s Lightning Bug Festival and it was pure magic. Tonight will be the choir’s final performance of the season. There are still some tickets left for this one at the link in my bio. Hope you can make it 🕯️💫

The audition window for Crescent Choir’s spring season is open a little longer, through March 31st.

A few folks have reached out needing more time to get clear on their spring schedules, and that makes sense. So we’re holding the door open one more week.

If you’ve been sitting with it, this is your nudge.

Crescent Choir brings original songs by local Asheville-area artists, across genre, across style, into collective choral performance. Last season’s show was something special and the music really shone through. We’re building on that.

Rehearsals are Monday evenings, with an optional shared meal beforehand. It’s rigorous and it’s warm, the folks involved show up with a lot of heart and are ready to work.

Song submissions close March 24th, if you have original music you’d like considered, that deadline holds.

Audition info + link in bio.

This your sign to do a couple’s session with your lover when you’re on vacation and to then compile an album of the two of you around the world :)

This cold, rainy day has me missin’ my riverside sits and all the leafy greens everywhere. Don’t get me wrong, my Cancer Hermit Crab self loooooves some inside home/nest time. But today in particular feels blech.
.
What do you do when you have those down days? Those days where you feel like you just wanna go back to bed and start over again the next morning?
.
For me, it’s usually a combination of meditation, food and a nap or intentional rest time. I used to call it Rest Play when I was a kid because naps were NOT my jam. I’d just sit in my basement bedroom with all the lights off and play with my toys or read or rearrange my room. Any way that I can slow down and show my appreciation for the quiet, darker days. Even if I AM missing my sunshine and water activities.
.
Anyway, I’m here. And I’d love to use this little computer box to connect with ya if you happen to scroll upon this post.
.
Thank you for being here. Even when it’s raining. I love you. We’ll keep going. 🥰💕✨🥹
