I'm out! Thanks to everyone who helped make this summer so very memorable. Yes it rained a lot. Yes I was injured. Yes I worked too much. Yes it snowed in August.
.
But... I. Got. Shit. Done.
Thanks to all of you.
.
Here's a photo from @adamgearing of me on "The Illusionist" before @dan.beland convinced me to try his kneebar beta through the crux. It worked.... So dirty.

Three strikes you’re out! or so was the case yesterday at least. Even in 25 degree heat and throat swelling smoke, I stuck this crux 3 times last night but fell on the final hard move 3 times as well:( My fourth day on this rig and I’m consistently getting closer, but unfortunately not close enough. It’s always a tiny bit sad taking the draws down from an incomplete project but today we leave for Ontario to visit family and spend time in cottage country - Two weeks of lake shores, floating docs, bbq’s and beers. I absolutely can’t wait. I just hope there’s a tree branch nearby so I can at least do some chin ups once in a while. I’ll be thinking about this climb a lot😂 Route is ‘Prime Time’ 14c. It’s been hot the last two days, but things should be cooling off this week. Reposting this try hard 📸 by the talented @lev_pinter of the final redpoint crux on ‘First Flight’ I basically cant climb anything without heel hooking. This rig is a 5-Star technical, power/endurance route, it’s also got some really long moves which suited me well. I’d consider this climb on the low end of 5.14c for me. But I don’t have much to compare it to this year. Thanks for the capture and the kind words brother. And thanks for the catch @nitromagnan sorry if that runout was a bit scary😆

It’s very exciting to see how many world class climbers have come to the Bow Valley this summer. But honestly... this moment here- just the other day was as exciting if not more so. Our own local legends and sport climbing heroes, route setters, crushers, and all round super great guys shared the rope the other day at upper acephale and for a few late hours @epowick and I got to have the crag to ourselves with their stoke. I loved watching them climb as well as receive their support in our projects. And I just saw yesterday that @sonnietrotter sent this rig!!! Local legends. Pretty awesome. Thanks for all the great routes guys and for pushing the sport!

Well I never thought that was going to happen. Especially this summer, especially tonight, especially after that massive hail storm. Somehow, between writing, photography, the @bowvalleyrockfest, filming @adam.ondra for @reelrock as well as working with @sashadigiulian on her summer project, being a husband and father, I managed to sneak out to Acephale 3 times this July. On my first burn tonight I put down ‘First Flight’ 5.14c - which was bolted by my longtime friend (and bow valley visionary) @lev_pinter and first redpointed by @joshmuller - tonight feels pretty special having the whole crag to ourselves. Many thanks to those who offered beta and shared a belay. Also congrats again to Adam for his historic onsight. @patagonia_climb @blackdiamond_climb @fiveten_official @sloperclimbing @sterlingrope

@joekinder gritting and bearing through the upper crux of “Existence Mundane” a 5.14b, in #Acephale Canada 🇨🇦 - I shot this photo on a 3 week road trip to Canada’s Bow Valley on an assignment for @rockandicemag back in 2007 with Joe, @dave_graham_ @isaaccaldiero @lev_pinter @sonnietrotter. Great memories with a power house crew and one hell of a good time in the beautiful Canadian Rockies
