The Body Knows the Truth Before the Mind Can Name It

In my 20+ years of teaching yoga, the most profound lesson hasn’t come from a textbook or a certification—it has come from the nervous system.

We often try to "think" our way through high-pressure seasons. We rationalize the noise, analyze the stress, and tell ourselves to "just keep going." But our bodies are the ultimate truth-tellers.

Long before our minds can articulate that an environment is out of alignment, our nervous system is already sending the signal.

Lately, I’ve been reminded that Clarity isn’t just a mental state—it’s a somatic one. When we stop the external noise and truly listen to our body’s internal rhythm, we reclaim our power. We move from a state of "survival" back into a state of "leadership."

I am currently practicing the "slow thaw"—honoring the time it takes to reset and recalibrate. I’m learning that trusting my intuition wasn't just a "feeling"; it was a data point.

If your body is sending you a signal today, trust it. It’s not just stress—it’s information.

Scenes from our 5th Annual Fall Yoga + Hike Retreat to @rivermountain.

Every year, I try to sit down and write about this little retreat of ours, but I’ve come to realize this: It’s difficult to capture all that’s shared on the land and around the fire, during yoga practice, and over cups of coffee.

If you’d like to experience it for yourself, we’re doing it again next year. Save the dates! October 22-25, 2026.

✨ 5th Annual Fall Yoga + Hike Retreat at River Mountain ✨

This weekend, I had the joy and honor of co-hosting our 5th annual Fall Yoga + Hike Retreat at River Mountain. Every year, this retreat grounds me—body, heart, and soul—but this year in particular felt like a milestone.

Over the past five years, I’ve grown in ways I never could’ve predicted. Life has offered its share of challenges and beauty, and somehow, every autumn when we gather in these mountains, I’m reminded of how far I’ve come.

These retreats give me perspective—on faith, resilience, connection, and the power of showing up exactly as we are.

To stand here now—leading, laughing, holding space, and being held by this community of incredible women—fills me with pride and deep gratitude. I don’t have it all figured out, but I trust the path. I have faith in what’s unfolding.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this year—your energy, vulnerability, laughter, and presence are what make this retreat so special.

Here’s to the mountains, to growth, and to sisterhood🧘‍♀️🍁⛰️

4th Annual Fall Yoga + Hike Retreat (the year we didn’t all fit in a square photo). 🥰

I don’t have words of reflection to share just yet. All I can say, over and over again — to these women, my teachers, our ancestors, and the natural world around us — is “Thank you.”

We’re going back to River Mountain for our 5th Annual Fall Yoga + Hike Retreat the same weekend next year: October 16-19, 2025. Save the dates!
