Got my giveaway prize from @sarahick ! The steel case of Silent Hill f which was not available to Canada (because why would it.. 🥲🥲) but the universe answered my plead! Thank you Sara for the care package and the awesome Norwegian chocolate bars that was completely consumed by my in days!! (I can’t regulate my chocolates consumption)

Anyways, so happy to have this in my collection. Imagery is stunning; showcasing the horror and loss of identity with the pop of crimson red. 🖤🖤🖤

I’m a bit AFK- work has been overwhelming and I just don’t have the bandwidth to do anything but bed rot and watch movies. Which is needed sometimes!

The haunting and ethereal atmosphere from this game still permeates after two decades. Steeped in Japanese Lore and brought to life by its darken and eerie corridors, and the ghostly occupants still tormented to wander the mortal plane in a cyclical madness…fatal frame defines atmospheric horror and tension. Exploration in this game always felt unnerving, as a moments glance will reveal an apparition looming overhead watching, or trudging down the hall. You have a moment to react- in defence or defiance. This game is beautiful in every layer.

Really can’t wait for the remake 🖤🖤

Review time! You decrepit ghouls who I adore! (I mean it in the most affectionate way)

Tormented souls 2 continues the tale of our (fellow) Canadian, one-eyed, red hair protagonist- Caroline Walker- and her twin from the past…therefore little sister- Anna. After the traumatic and time manipulative endeavours the sisters nearly escape from, Anna is plagued with ceaseless night terrors, leaving a residual of macabre imagery and an impulse to draw these grotesque creatures onto paper. But like Caroline, Anna harbours her own particular supernatural abilities…things she draws, life is created. So what can Caroline do to alleviate her sister from this abhorrent gift?….Well, take her to a “boogie” mindful retreat hosted by a convent of nuns and Mother Superior Lucia (what a pretentious title) to the lush and rural landscape of Chile of course!! (Say that without taking a breath)

But this is a survival horror so we know shits about to hit the fan. Caroline soon discovers that this promised respite was nothing by a sinister ruse in capturing Anna in hopes of waking up an Eldritch god from its domain. Caroline-doing her favourite thing in the world- gets knocked out, and Anna’s whereabouts obscured into fogginess. And thus…the pursuit begins!

The game expands more on the lore and story of the first one, even expanding the map beyond the hallowing confines of a monastery. You get to venture out and explore the remnants of a town that was once brimming with hope and opportunity…till the rot of an overzealous cult claimed it as its refuge and its children.

Silent Hill f has deeply embedded itself into my mind, heart and whatever remains of a soul. It resigns there with SH3, a game that I owe so much to what I do and what I cherish today. It’s not a silly exclamation. Masterful games like the ones present altered my mindset, made me enamoured…a genre that’s beyond just terror but that discusses dark, sombre and raw themes that plague our world. Horror doesn’t just terrify…it sings the tales of our traumas and so much more. Silent hill 3 pave the way into my deep love for horror as an entire genre-books, films, comics and especially video games- and it’s why I harbour a collection at all.

These games aren’t just vapid form of entertainment to divulge the chaotic mind with…it’s artistic form that helps bridge the self into healing. It challenges our perception and beliefs. Allows us to step into the shoes of another and experience, and empathize with their story…despite the differences…a connection can always be made…you just have to allow yourself to really see, really feel.

Thank you dad for allowing me to rent out SH3 from blockbuster. That one charitable moment- despite you not wanting to spend the 5 bucks lol- has made the difference! Lol and honestly can’t even imagine myself if those seemingly silly decisions never happened. Would I still find my way into a paramour of the dark, the mystery? Of the terror? I’m unsure and I don’t really like to even entertain the thought.

Lmao anyways! Just a love letter to one of my favourite series in the world! Thank you for reading. Byeee!

I post when I can. Hopefully when I’m not working two jobs next week, I’ll have the energy beyond just slumping on the couch sleeping.

This game is beautiful; in its rendition of fear and tumult cries of loss freedom. Many wonder where the connection to Silent Hill resigns in this newest instalment; how does it pertain to the town of festering nightmares and horrors? Is it connected to the desperation in reanimating a deity enveloped by false pretences and promises like the cult in Silent Hill? Yes? Maybe? Perhaps not?

Silent hill is beyond the bordering lines that mark the town. It’s about the unregulated pain, torment and very real trauma our characters carry, and how the mind-desperate to save its host- renders itself from its sole responsibility to confront and heal. That agony ferments and spreads, till it brings forth manifestations so monstrous and grotesque, only the human mind could have ever fathom. This game has the elements, the trials and tribulations that must be conquered in hopes of finding redemption.

There’s so much that can be said about this game. So many layers can be peeled away to shine light to its many nuances. It’s a game that needs to be enjoyed through achieving more than one ending, in hopes of placing the pieces together. It was disparaging seeing in the community how some disregard it for surface level reasons-(or for the fact they couldn’t relate, nor display empathy beyond their own experience and privileges…so they strip it of its beauty by oversimplifying its meaning, which devours all good art its beauty). Lol but maybe I took it too personally because this game has been living in my mind. Its details mulled over as i desperately bridge connections and meaning while I’m suppose to coach my client for her upcoming race. XD (im sorry for always appearing distracted…trying to get it out of my system)

Anyhow! Love this game and I’m still playing it when I can. Im exhausted and love seeing everyone’s posts this month! Keep it up! And know I love you, like how Norman Bates love his mother 😈😈😈😈

Sorry We’re Closed is a bizarre and eccentric, horror adventure indie game. Where your choices- rather it’s assisting any downtrodden NPC along the way or completely staying on course and ignoring their unwarranted requests- may sway into which ending you receive…and don’t we all like alternative endings?! Gifting players replay-ability which is a blessing for how much games cost these days.

You play as Michelle, a fabulously dressed convenient store clerk who struggles with bouts of loss and heartache after the tragic breakout from her ex-girlfriend Leslie…even despite 3 years…our girl is still reminiscing on their lost love. Her pain overcoming her days and night which eventually seeps through the recesses of the looming dark and liminal spaces…draws in a demon (The Duchess…who somehow looks great with an unibrow) that demands her love unfettered. Michelle naturally and appropriately being fearful of the entity in her apartment, refuses as she loves no one else but her past long gone. Unsatisfied with the rejection, a curse is then placed on Michelle, a deep scar appearing on your forehead as The Duchess bestows onto her a Third Eye. This curse “gifts” Michelle with the ability to glimpse between the two closely sided realms- the demonic world and her reality. She now has three days and nights to figure out how to lift the curse or succumb to all of eternity…becoming a tormented plaything for The Duchess…thankfully…Michelle isn’t alone, as her best friends Robyn- a sarcastic and “loves-to-get-into-arguments-with-Marty” friend who already has previous experiences in the demon world- and Marty- a demon obsessed connoisseur- try to help her seek answers, in hopes to put an end to this curse once and for all!

The game is played between third person perspective, while becoming first person during combat. Inspired fixed cameras much utilized in classic horror games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil are emulated in this game. There’s more to say but don’t have enough space. Lol

👑 [Slay the Princess] 👑

An indie choice driven psychological-horror visual novel by Serenity Forge and Black Tabby Games.

Recent pick up and I was fortunate to find one copy near me. A short game but one that requires several playthroughs to witness all the princesses…and truthfully…the story got me wrapped up in confusion. You play as an entity, whose own existence and origin is shrouded in mystery…being guided by a voice- The Narrator- to reach the cabin and kill the princess. Upon pushing the matter further, the narrator only regales that the continuous existence of the princess will mean the death of the entire world and that the only salvation is her life being met with a blade.

And as a result…my mind gets plagued with confusion and a tinge of resistance as the task ahead infringes on my morales and integrity. But what seemed like a simple task…becomes a never ending nightmare of eternal loops and death. Repeats to continue the tasks again in hopes of achieving an opportune ending…but it’s not so clear cut and I realize…I’m probably not making sense…like I said! I need to continue a few playthroughs to really gather what’s happening.

Beautifully hand drawn, the rough sketches emulates the intensity of each encounter and emotion, the best decision because polishing it with colour would have extracted the effect. That hopelessness. Anyhow, I’m absolutely in love with the style!

This one is more titillating and obscure in mystery as oppose to horror…but why the hell not?! I love a good Sherlock Holmes game, and this one was an exceptional one for me- it’s been such a long time since I’ve played it so details, like yesterday’s breakfast…fades away to the void!

Inspired (obviously) by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the title is a nod to a Russian novel with the same name; Crime and Punishment by Fyodar

Broken into six parts, the story takes place between 1894-1895, situated in the very bleak and industrial capital city…London. Sherlock and Watson are up against the Merry Men, a group terrorizing the English government in hopes of erasing the entire populations debt…yeah..where are they when you need them? Right?!

Choices are made throughout each chapter, everything leading up to your final decision…to stop the Merry Man or allow them to proceed with their plan? You probably know my choice..(the only correct one imo)

Evil Within!

This game has some of my favourite creature designs, environments and villain- who has the hottest voice imaginable and I will gracefully die on that mound. It’s a cruel experience; ammunition a rarity and safety abysmal…accessing each foe encounter, deciding if fighting or fleeing is the appropriate response. This game was hard for a gunslinger (in the fictitious world) like myself…ammo would run dry and fear slowly took its place. This game is one of my favourites…and I wish we could get one more…(with Ruvik making a reappearance please!)
