From the first marks in the studio to the final red dots on the wall.

Looking back at @femmeartfair, I keep thinking about everything it took to get there: months of making and questioning and making again.

@kittenontheloose helping me see how Throughline could come together as a whole. @gregorystaleyfoto getting the best pro shots. @levelartservices bringing it onto the walls. @lilschweg and @vijilant_digital capturing the moments I would have otherwise missed.

And then—the doors opened, and all of you came.

You looked. You asked questions. You lingered. You talked about the work. You brought friends back. And, yes, you bought art. I came home having sold the majority of the work I brought to FEMME—something I am enormously grateful for and do not take lightly.

But I came home with something else, too.

A sense that this was bigger than any one artist, any one sale, any one weekend.

FEMME was built around a very simple proposition: put women artists at the center and see what happens.

We saw what happens.

People showed up.

There is an appetite for this work. There is a market for it. There is a hunger to discover, collect, champion and live with art made by women.

To the organizers of FEMME @femmeartfair @ourdaughtersfutures @usanusan_ who had the audacity to build a fair around that belief: thank you. And to every artist, collector, curator, friend and person who walked through those doors—you were part of proving the point.

So yes, I’m celebrating the red dots.

But mostly, I’m celebrating what they—and that incredible crowd—represent.

Let’s keep going.

Together.

One last glimpse before the doors open.

The work has left my studio and is becoming Throughline — with the very talented Chris Hansard of @levelartservices helping me bring it all into place.

There’s an art to installation: the spacing, the sightlines, the tiny shifts that suddenly make everything click. Chris is exceptionally good at it, and I’m so grateful to have his eye and expertise on this one.

And now… we’re ready.

FEMME Art Fair opens tomorrow.
August 27–30 | 1850 K St NW, Washington, DC

My last little peek behind the curtain. Next time you see it, Throughline will be live. @femmeartfair

The countdown is on!

The FEMME Art Fair is just days away, and I think I speak for all of the artists when I say…we are pumped!

Women have long been underrepresented in the art world. FEMME is about changing that by creating space for women artists to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

I’m so excited to be part of an event that puts women, their work, and their voices front and center. See you there!

Chiara Banfi is an accomplished Brazilian artist who lives in Rio. This is a beautiful addition to my collector’s home.
Thank you so much for the installation @levelartservices

The artist develops a practice that investigates the relationship between sound, frequency, and form. In her formative years, she focused on translating music into drawing, collage and installation.

Behind the scenes installing an original painting by artist Julie Wolfe in the lobby of a new conference center, steps from Washington National Airport. The constellations in this painting complement the aviation theme we followed while sourcing art for this project’s permanent collection.

What happens when a large scale painting leaves the studio?

This 60x72” abstract made its way to its new home, and seeing it installed in this space was such a special moment. I love how the bright layers of color interact with the deep wall color and the rest of the room.

one more archive before i forget, this time for the most unexpected four months. wow, eclipse season… the plan was to be in DC for just one month for several art installs, which turned into three months due to project delays and dad’s stroke. lots of lovely unexpected reunions: first in Barcelona then DC ~ made it to DC in time for my mom’s & brother’s bday celebrations, got an ok photo of dad (& his friend Klaus) pre-stroke, was then iced in for almost 2 weeks & dove into managing renovations at my mom’s to make part of her house ADA accessible. very sad to witness @goshdarnknit sculpture deinstall, thrilled at the chance to see @mercedes_theartist solo exhibition at @amamuseum, finally tried my skills at hosting a house party, lots more schenanigans both irl & digitally with a study group that keep me sane, long convos with @nicolesalimbene, one lovely trip to the cabin with @suewrbican & @artistcecicolemcinturff to catch up with @gradientprojects folks, hugged @cati.gg after 15 years ❤️‍🔥

not pictured: expanding my english vocabulary with @margaretbakke backyard sits with @noelkassewitzart tequila shots and much needed catchups with @heatherjonesart endless spritzes and pub food with @rfasman sound baths and my first (!) steam with @goshdarnknit long drives with @artistcecicolemcinturff vintage exploring with @exityaset @trashberry_bcn installing lots of @latelacuratorial art with @levelartservices hugs with @mercedes_theartist. i feel so grateful for my community & always wishing there was way more time. how does one split itself into two? ❤️‍🔥🫂🌹 i love you all

We have been installing a lot of artwork lately for various client projects! Here is a sneak peek behind the scenes: installing this large diptych by Julie Wolfe from Hemphill Fine Arts with Level Art Services. Stay tuned for the final reveal, to learn about this artwork, and why it was selected for its forever home.
