Award-winning author 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐋'𝐄𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞 joined me again to talk about the fifth engrossing installment in his acclaimed Detective Nathan Parker Series, 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬. It's another "ripped from the headlines" story in which the life of Miguel, Nathan's foster son, is at stake. Nathan experiences heart-wrenchingly believable moments of sheer terror, nearly uncontrollable anger, frustration, panic, & desperation.

We discussed the initial inspiration for the series which deals with contemporary issues. 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬, in particular, could not be more timely.

This is a great time to get caught up on the series because the still-untitled sixth installment will be available next summer & will again focus on Billie Carson, a beloved & entertaining integral character in the series.

We also had an illuminating discussion about the 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 of being an author today.

Such a fun mystery!
A fall festival, an old mansion, murder, history, and ghosts? What’s not to love? I really enjoyed the Southern California coastal setting and the spooky atmosphere, along with the quirky characters and secrets from the past.

A great third book in The Suddenly French Mystery Series. Perfect for this time of year, and highly recommend ✨

51% by Matt Witten.
The book provides a thrilling case and a stark warning!

Matt Witten, it seems, has perhaps been quite reflective in his most recent thriller, set in his home country, the US. Although this is the setting, the themes can easily be related to the UK and worldwide as well, so if you're looking for a relatable thriller, this still offers that.
I was given an e-book/PDF copy of 51% in-exchange of an honest review. It made me all reflective about society and the messages within this fast-paced, powerful thriller.

Imagine every inch of the public sector being privatised. Lots appears to be in the US, but there are state owned institutions like schools, police, roads etc.
This thriller looks into the near future, so only 20 years from now and everything in the United States of America is privatised, literally everything, even human beings!
It's a stark warning! The starkest warning since the tv drama by Russel T. Davies, 'Years and Years' strongly attempted to show people what could happen in the near future and a great and important chunk has already happened. 51% is equally as plausible and again, we can already see a certain trajectory towards what is being predicted in the near future.
Observers of society and this includes writers of crime fiction and dramas are rather good at predicting what will happen and stating what is happening in society, like in Will Carver's books. 51% is another that is absolutely 100% worth sitting up and taking heed or paying attention to. Imagine losing your autonomy to AI. You only own 49% of yourself...

Amongst what is observed, is a crime thriller story. An immigrant woman is 51% by syndicates is found to be brutally murdered. Detective Juke O'Keefe and his partner, Crime Marketing Consultant Haylee Navarro take on the case. Juke's ex, Safiya Jones, a Resistance leader is on the syndicates' most wanted list. The three of them join together in a bid to gain back control for those who are known as the "51 percenters", who have forcibly had a microchip planted inside them, meaning the most powerful AI in the world can control... swipe across for rest of review...

I had a wonderful time chatting with award-winning author 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐋'𝐄𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞 recently & am happy to announce that he has agreed to be my second "repeat offender."

We're going to chat again, this time focusing on the fifth and 𝘧𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘴 installment in his acclaimed Detective Nathan Parker Series, 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬.

He holds a perfect record -- every book in the series has earned 5 stars from me. 𝘏𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 is even more emotionally resonant, compelling, & fraught with tension than the previous volumes. Earlier in the series, Parker encountered Miguel, a young boy on the run from the Mexican cartel that murdered his family. Miguel became Parker's foster son. The story has advanced a few years & Parker has truly become Miguel’s 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 in every meaningful way. In this latest volume, Miguel's bright future & very life are at stake, making Parker empathetic & relatable at a deeper level. Parker is anticipating the birth of his biological child, as well, & experiences heart-wrenchingly believable moments of sheer terror, nearly uncontrollable anger, frustration, panic, & desperation.

𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 is a tense, un-put-down-able tale & readers will find themselves completely invested in the outcome.

There are so many lies and secrets I didn't know who was telling the truth. I kept guessing to the very end.
