Thank you so much Nicole (@mianickybelle) for including me in the 10 Up-and-Coming Canadian Filmmakers to Watch/Know on @veravitamagazine !❤️🎬 Congratulations to the incredibly talented filmmakers listed too!

I’ve been facing a lot of rejection, so this article couldn’t have been published at a better time!

I have 6 documentaries (different roles on each) and have filmed dozens of videos, and taken thousands of photos. And I’m on my way to making my first narrative short film soon. I also want to look into how Leverage Lens can create a fulfilling, helpful and beneficial free program for filmmakers, no matter what level they’re on.

Recognition in any arts industry is so important, so this means the world to me because it gets me closer to my goals: making impactful films & helping others do the same.

Last month, we premiered a four part short docu series “WE GOT NEXT”, highlighting MWSBL hoopers’ stories, from coaches, volunteers, the sisterhood & the next generation.

Since starting MWSBL, there have been countless stories & moments of impact that our participants have shared with me, but we just never had the capacity & resources to bring these beautiful stories to life. I’m so grateful this finally happened after years of dreaming about it, Alhamdulillah!🥹

Big s/o to my sis @ayshakml for taking the lead on this project and showcasing what impact looks like after the Fitriya: Muslim On and Off the Court doc (@fitriyadoc).

To the participants & contributors of this project, thank you for putting your all into bringing these stories to life. Forever grateful for you all!🫶🏽

We can’t wait to share it with you all soon i’A!🙏🏽

A little throwback to a project that was incredibly meaningful to be part of💛

Last December, I had the opportunity to capture the behind-the-scenes moments for a powerful short film alongside such a talented team.

One of my favourite parts of content creation is documenting the moments people don’t always see: the collaboration, creativity, and teamwork that bring an important story to life. It truly takes a village, and I’m so grateful to have played a part in preserving these memories.

A huge congratulations and thank you to this incredible team who made it all possible🤍 Swipe through for a few behind-the-scenes moments from set!

Protecting the culture means showing up for the creators building it.

Last week, we had the pleasure of sponsoring the Leverage Lens Film + Art Festival at Henderson Brewing Co. From raw portrait photography to moving short documentaries, the evening was a masterclass in the power of Toronto storytelling.

At Misasi Legal, community is central to everything we do. Founded by a former creative, the firm was built specifically to show up in physical spaces where our clients live, work and create.

Toronto is overflowing with brilliant artists and curators. We believe that supporting you means collaborating directly with you, opening up our networks, and making sure your work is protected.

Congratulations to the organizers and artists who made this event a massive success!

Are you an Ontario-based creative entrepreneur or organization looking to collaborate on upcoming initiatives? Let’s connect!

Spent the evening at Leverage Lens Film + Art Festival watching short films and exploring art displays.

It’s a festival completely dedicated to celebrating human experiences and storytelling, and the space they built for independent creators to share their narratives was amazing. Every narrative they chose to highlight felt deeply personal, focusing on the kinds of human connections and stories that usually get lost in the noise online.

They did a great job creating a supportive platform that genuinely champions independent artists, and seeing the insane level of talent given the spotlight was incredible.

Great storytelling doesn’t just happen — it’s captured through the right lens. We’re glad to have played a role in helping an important cultural festival in Canada.

Over the May long weekend, the third annual Leverage Lens Art + Film Festival took over @hendersonbrewing in Toronto’s west end. As the event’s platinum sponsors, we worked closely with the festival’s founder, @selcallum , to strengthen this year’s festival experience. We offered content guidance, feedback and partnership-building strategies to help the festival’s reach and potential.

We celebrate you, Selina McCallum! Your creativity, leadership and hard-working spirit – both publicly and behind the scenes – is making a difference! As one of our trusted collaborators, we look forward to continuing to create together. Congratulations to Selina for putting together another successful event!🥳

The @leveragelens Film + Art Festival returned for its biggest year yet, bringing together filmmakers, photographers, visual artists, and community members for an evening rooted in storytelling, creativity, and connection.✨

Held at Henderson Brewing Co., this year’s festival featured six women-directed documentary films, work from acclaimed Toronto and Scarborough artists and photographers, community activations, and conversations that reflected the diversity and creativity of the city.

Street Voices was proud to be a returning media sponsor for this year’s festival and celebrate a platform that continues to uplift emerging and established creatives alike.
