@onlineretailer is back at ICC Sydney next week, and so am I. Last year, I had the pleasure of photographing over 70 people across the two days. This year, I’m back again thanks to @lexer.io . If you haven’t come across Lexer, they’re the customer data platform a lot of Australian retailers run on, the one that helps brands actually know who their customers are instead of guessing. I’ll be at their booth both days, July 22 and 23, 10am to 4pm, taking portraits. Solo shot or a fun one with the team. Come say hi! #onlineretailer Grid of nine portraits taken at Online Retailer 2025 against a purple studio backdrop.

Yesterday, we brought together a room full of founders, operators and marketers for Thoughtful Minds Connect: Reclaim Your Customer. A conversation centred around one big question: How do we build deeper, more meaningful relationships with customers in a world where attention is harder to earn than ever? From shifting consumer expectations, to the role of data, loyalty, AI and human connection — the day was filled with honest conversations, fresh perspectives and practical ideas from people who are actively building the future of customer relationships. A huge thank you to @ellisonstudios, our incredible sponsors — @klaviyo , @yotpo, @tiktok, Global-e and @impactdotcom — for helping bring the day to life. And to our speakers, panellists and everyone who joined us and shared their experiences, thank you for contributing to such an inspiring conversation. A special thank you to @roddandgunn for sharing your wines with us, and @suzieq.melbourne for the yummy food. The best conversations happen when the room is filled with curious minds — and yesterday was exactly that. 🤍

No better way to connect with new contacts than over a refreshing serve of gin. One minute you’re talking automation, retail and fulfilment strategies… the next you’re debating botanicals and tonic pairings with people you met an hour earlier. A fun touch by the iMedia Summits & Events AU, NZ & SEA Retail Summit team in Christchurch proving the best networking doesn’t always happen inside the conference sessions. Safe to say this “gin journey” delivered a few great conversations along the way. #iMediaRSNZ #RetailSummit #ecommerce #KNAPP #knappaustralia Retail Automation

The best kind of events don’t end when the room clears — they keep echoing. Thoughtful Minds Connect was exactly that. A room full of sharp minds, honest conversations, and ideas that cut through the noise — from retention being the real growth lever, to the power of unified customer data, to the way AI is already reshaping how we think about marketing, brand, and experience. A special moment on stage was with @raaaquelbouris @adambouris and @arielle.thomas, sharing raw, real perspectives on what it takes to build, evolve, and rethink growth in today’s landscape. Some rooms you don’t forget, and this was one of them. *PART 2*

A room full of sharp minds, honest conversations, and ideas that cut through the noise — from retention being the real growth lever, to the power of unified customer data, to the way AI is already reshaping how we think about marketing, brand, and experience. What stood out most wasn’t just what was said on stage, but the shared clarity underneath it all: Growth today isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing what matters better. Smarter acquisition. Stronger retention. Tighter connection between brand, data, and customer experience. And most importantly, getting the right people in a room and letting the thinking unfold. Some rooms you don’t forget, and this was one of them. *PART 1*

At Thoughtful Minds Connect, Prav de Silva led a powerhouse panel with @azluxmoore (@lexer.io) Bronte Howard (@decjuba) & Rachael Ward (@ksubi), exploring the challenges and opportunities of customer retention in a performance-driven market. ✨ Key takeaways: • Centralise your data – understand your customers across online & offline channels. • Segment strategically – personalise for repeat vs one-time buyers. • Tech = strategy – adopt tools that align with business goals, not the other way around. • Data over guesswork – make informed decisions to boost loyalty & lifetime value. Retention isn’t optional—it’s where real growth happens. 💡
