My baby woke up today with a fever. My whole day, cancelled. Easy.

Loving my child has opened my eyes in ways I never expected. As a mother, I can’t fathom not choosing growth, not facing my flaws head-on to become the safe, healthy love my child deserves. And yet, from the heart of the child I once was, I still struggle to understand how that courage could have been missing.
I carry both truths—deep love for my child, and deep confusion from my own childhood—and I choose to break that cycle, one honest, healing step at a time.

They said, “No one wants a single mom.”
I almost believed them.
I was newly single.
Postpartum.
Depressed.
Praying prayers through tears like, “God… how did I get it wrong again?”
I felt embarrassed. Rejected. Confused.
Wondering if loving me meant accepting “too much baggage.”
And then God sent a man who saw my babies… and didn’t flinch.
He stepped in with patience. With gentleness. With intention.
He didn’t tolerate us — he chose us. Every single day.
Now I get to watch the man I love love my children like they were always his.
Our home is full of laughter instead of heaviness.
Peace instead of survival mode.
And I gained the sweetest bonus son along the way.
So yes — I’ll die on this hill:
Being a single mom is not a liability.
It’s not a downgrade.
