POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Saturday, October 17, 2026, is a day that will go down in our family history! My son, @joe.epperson.iv, set a new family marathon record, beating my previous time and raising the bar for all of us. ❤️🏃🏻‍♂️

Looking at the smiles in these pictures, you might think everything went perfectly. But the reality was far from it. And somehow, that made the outcome even more meaningful. From the moment the race started, everything flowed according to his well-laid-out plan until an unexpected issue with the pack carrying his race fuel forced him to adapt on the fly. Then the tracking app stopped working mid-race, leaving us unable to track him or follow his progress. To make matters worse, overloaded cell towers made it nearly impossible for any of us to communicate.

Without knowing exactly where he was or what he needed, the people who came to support him began filling the gaps. One of his best friends mapped, then adapted an incredible 16-stop route so we could support him throughout the race.

When he needed fuel, another best friend ran two miles without knowing exactly where to find him, delivered supplies, then turned around and ran alongside him until he was sure Joe was good to go.
Even those who couldn’t attend in person found ways to show their love and support, through messages which speaks volumes about Joe’s character and the relationships he’s built.

His twin sister, who was in St. Louis for HYROX training, made sure she could FaceTime him at the finish line.
My dad drove his best friends and me from stop to stop. My mom packed a first-aid kit and sent snacks with love.
His dad rode his bicycle throughout the course, bringing him water and encouragement.
Friends who ran other segments of the race stayed after to help us find available parking. Although he trained faithfully, the challenges of race day kept Joe from reaching his ideal goal time, he still crossed the finish line safely.
Sometimes the greatest rewards aren’t found in achieving a goal exactly as we imagined, but in discovering who matters most along the way. I am incredibly proud of my son, the man he has become and the relationships he’s built. #Grateful #kcmarathon2026

Life lately 💛

Psalm 103:1-5

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!”
