Oh how I love California!

What a fun trip seeing so many sweet faces, drinking so much matcha, checking out churches near @vanguardu, attending Biola Volleyball camp (team LAMBO!!), serving at FCA Performance camp, and soaking in the sun every single day! @stephen_posey thank you for making this such a wonderful trip!! You’re my favorite travel buddy!!

Thank you Jesus for this life!! How blessed are we!!!

The past few meets have been a whirlwind to say the least. I’ve been struggling with running for a bit now and been using these past 3 meets to build back up for today and next week at district. Long story short I still feel pretty bad after today’s meet, but as a whole I’ve been getting better again.

This season has not been the greatest having two main factors for this: sickness and mental. Early on in the season when it mattered most to do the hard workouts I got sick. I was bummed but didn’t think of it too much at first. After I started getting better again I didn’t do as well as I wanted to in races and realized that I was not going to be able to get the workouts I needed to get faster in time for districts. Even with that I still tried to push through the meets and slowly inch my way back up to glory.

It has been generally successful, but today’s meet was humbling to say the least. It was a pretty slow meet with the officials even messing up my 16 time. Then during the 32 I just felt aweful. I felt weak. I wanted to really burry that feeling but I just couldn’t get it out of my head and I felt like I forgot how to race. This bummed me out a lot, and I hate to admit it but after the race I ran away from the track and just cried for a bit alone. This moment is probably the worst I’ve felt in a really long time as I wanted this meet to be my breakout, but I failed. I know I didn’t do this but I feel as though I’ve let me and the team down, I’m never able to preform to anyone’s expectations no matter how I try to control my fear and change it to confidence.

Sob story over though I will still try at districts. I got new spikes earlier this week and I have generally been getting better, so I hope that a fresh 32 is all I need to regain my confidence and finally get that pr I’m hunting for. And even though I’d have to pr by a minute, best case scenario would be qualifying for state. It’s unlikely but I will try to do what I’ve always gone out to do.

For the future of my career I’m very scared. I want to be the best (or behind Cade) during XC but I don’t know. I’ll train harder and more controlled in the summer, but I have to wonder, will it even be enough?
