This weekend was one for the books! MXoN- what an amazing experience! The track was unreal and the racing was incredible. 45,000 fans from all over the world! 🌎 🤯 Call me crazy, but this MXGP stuff looks pretty sick. @elitomac , @rjhampshire , and @justincooper_32 put it all out there for the red, white, and blue. 2 is sweeter than 1 First time running a state championship race, and I made the most of it! Had so much fun on the dirt scooter- Had some great battles in the 85 open. Pulled 3 of 4 hole shots. Won all 4 of my motos, and came away with 2 state championships! Illinois State Champion: 85 Open 85 (9-11) Thank you to everyone @ridelincolntrail for a great event! They dealt with some rain again and the track was absolutely prime yesterday. Heats in the 85 open and almost a full gate in the 85 (9-11)- absolutely love to see it! Have had the best birthday week ringing in #12! Got a new whip. Rode in North Carolina. Had dinner in Savannah. Started training @motosandbox Went on a boat ride to dinner in Clermont. Wildcat Creek was wild! Started with a slick, muddy practice day, followed by the SICKEST track ever on Saturday, and fast conditions today. It wasn’t my cleanest or best riding, but I’m happy with my composure, intensity, and race craft. Snagged the W’s in the stock and mod classes with 1-1 finishes in both! I don’t have the opportunity to race close to home often- Crazy to travel just a couple of hours for a race for a change! So happy my Papaw was able to come watch me today too! The Story Behind the Pit Board A few months ago, my family and I made the decision to wrap up my 65 career a year early. At almost 5’ tall and 80+ pounds, my knees have been above the gas tank for a while. But, I’ve made it work, and I’ve accomplished some great things on the 65. I’m a huge Michael Jordan fan, and I’ve watched “The Last Dance” a 1000 times. Maybe you’ve noticed my Bulls-themed bike with the Jumpman logo on the front fender? He may not ride dirt bikes, but I admire his work ethic and passion for his sport. I knew Mini O’s was my last race on the 65. While I had some good rides, I hadn’t quite put it all together. So before my very last race ever on a 65, I told my dad I wanted to write myself a message on my pit board, and I wanted him to show it to me every lap. “The Last Dance. Give it your all.” And I enjoyed that last dance, and I gave it everything I had. Pulled the hole shot. Led for a couple of laps. Handled the pressure behind me. And I earned my first podium at a national. What an epic ending to my 65 career! Michael Jordan said, “It started with hope….All you needed was one little match to start that whole fire.” I’ve always had hope, and I just found the match to light my fire. Expect that fire to burn big and bright!
