DRUM AND DANCE FAMILY!!
Let’s come together and end the summer right!

I’m happy to announce that I’ll be organizing a doundounba party in Harlem this August. This event will be an outdoor cultural celebration and EVERYONE IS INVITED!
We’re calling all dancers and all djembefola and dundunfola to come outside for a day full of nothing but love, laughter, tradition, and community.

Juneteenth is almost here - this Friday - and we are gearing up with celebratory #juneteenth performances like this one today at PS/MS 161 in #harlem !

Students watch not only exhilarating performances featuring West African dance and drumming, tap, and Step, but they also learn why Juneteenth is such an important moment in our American history.

A decade ago, I finished my thesis & graduated from @parsons_fashion. I visited Portland, OR for the first time with my high school bff Piper! I loved it, but never imagined how I could live here. 2 weeks later I traveled to Haiti to work for @donnakaranthewoman at @dot.haiti! It was a time of immense growth and I feel so lucky for the collaboration of classmates, support of family & friends, and learning from artisans & other colleagues.

We were thrilled to perform again at @bgc.mvny as part of our Dance in the Gym for the community.

It was a joyous affair showcasing dance forms passed down from generation to generation from Chinese/Tibetan dance to Hip Hop and Tap to West African dance and live drumming.

We extend our gratitude to the Boys and Girls Club of Mt Vernon for hosting us again along with the Mid Atlantic Folk and Traditional Arts - Community Projects Program of Mid Atlantic Arts with further support from the @neaarts

“Follow Me” [February 2026]

Materials: construction paper, magazine cutouts, original + family photo prints, sugar packet, bingo ticket, building pass, rhinestones, gift tag, stickers, tape.

“Follow Me” is a homemade, stream of consciousness zine. In the hour before @veryserious.bcn inaugural zine club meeting, I emptied my folder of misprints, unused photographs, saved collage material, everything onto my dining room table and let the correlations guide the making.

🃏🔬🪅🖇️🧶

There are, of course, many influences + memories here:

1. Off top, the zine’s format + physicality is deeply inspired by fellow Andalusian @rubenbarrosoalvarez who’s zines I was lucky enough to discover at @artslibris my first year in Barcelona. Please get to know his work❣️

2. The use of glistening rhinestones comes directly from the time @ezrom_williams + I visited the @whitneymuseum coming across @sadiebarnette incredible “Family Tree II” piece. Again, get to know the work✨

3. Then, in order of appearance, the memories: a 2013 selfie at @ponyseattle , man feeding pigeons in front of the Duomo during Milan Men’s Fashion Week 2019, doves at Parque María Luisa 2014, @plantemere + a nighttime rose in Montjuic, the boy in the rose bushes at @colleenlouisebarry wedding last summer, my glass in Sevilla 2017, upstate NY swamp goblins @melancholly7 @jacqueline.tosline @viktorshaa, a dock and a goat also Colleen’s wedding, the top of @justinelaviolette head on Capitol Hill the summer before I moved to NY, a visitor’s pass, @sunnylee222 on the ferry to Rockaway, a closed flower shop in Sevilla, my favorite stranger at the Lincoln Tunnel, Rocio Jurado I won’t tell you where, @esperanzaspalding fingers from our “12 Little Spells” shoot 2016?, a faulty but beautifully blue Polaroid, my twin mi abuela Concha, old @thecalendarzine page portrait of @leymingot in Prospect Park, a bingo ticket from @alejandoaortega + @_larathanks wedding in Zaragoza 2024.

We are thrilled to share footage of our performances of NEXT: New Voices, Shared Stories on March 13 and 14 at Ailey Citigroup Theater.

The evening featured three choreographers we commissioned through our NEXT choreography program — @danielle_d28 @wille_ervworks and @mtian._sun alongside the work of Cuban choreographer @pedroruizjr23 and a West African dance and drumming work by @leymingot.

None of these works were made in response to what’s happening in the news at the moment. They were made because these artists had something true to say. That they feel so urgent right now is not a coincidence. It’s a reminder of what art can do.

The 2016 trend has me feeling nostalgic… I spent first half of it in the studio, building my thesis collection at @parsons_fashion. For the first time, I wore the skirt from that collection this week to work at Nike. It feels good to wear things made with our own hands. Revisiting this garment reminds me of the winding path that got me out West. Gratitude for this week’s sunny January lunch at work in my skirt. #MargoIsadora #ConversationsinColor

DanceAfrica is one of my favorite times of year! For 48 years DanceAfrica has been @bam_brooklyn longest-running program and the nation’s largest African dance and culture It’s so much more than a Family reunion. My heart is full from seeing so many of my Dance Fam, colleagues, and beautiful people in general.
