One week of Socktober is already gone, and WOW… we now have over 1,500 participants! 🎉

We already have 18 finished projects; more than 100 knitters have chosen #rhubarbandcustardsocks; the 2nd and 3rd picks are very close, and they are #asimssocks and #barcelonamemoriessocks2.

The room is literally BUZZING. Chats, questions and project updates are happening all the time, and we are doing our best to keep up with everything. Sorry if I miss anything!

And one thing I especially love this year is how many people are trying something for the first time. We have lots of knitters working on their very first pair of socks ever, and another group making their first-ever toe-up socks. So many firsts happening!

It makes me so happy to see people step outside their comfort zone, try new techniques, and learn something new. ❤️

We still have another three weeks of Socktober to go, so there is plenty of time to join us! I’m in the Socktober Room pretty much every day, so I’ll be there to cheer you on, answer questions and help where I can.

And a HUGE thank you to our Socktober participants who have allowed us to share photos of your beautiful projects on our social media. It is wonderful to share your creativity with everyone. ❤️

Conquering 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣3️⃣!

My 🖤 is FULL! This community showed up with one thing in mind… showing their badassery. They showed up for 60 minutes of gritty aggressive hills, fast flats and then conquered a 5 min long epic in/out of the saddle jog to finish the first ride of the year. 🤩 We celebrated the strengths of 2022 and focused on the promises we were going to conquer in 2023!

I can’t wait to see all the amazing things that will occur within the walls of our @cyclebarredlands studio in 2023. All I know is it will be amazing, no matter what. ⚡️

SEWING AT STITCHES!!! many people still don’t realize there are now sewing classes, both garment-sewing and quilting, at @stitchesevents, but i’m here to show you! i taught my Boxy Tee/Drapy Tunic and One-Day Skirt classes, plus Pattern Drafting and some mini classes in pattern-hacking and hand-stitching. *************************
here are Kim, Whitney @theuglygreenchair, and Julie @dyeshavei in their tees/tunics, and Leslie @lharriel who bravely rocked the runway (despite wearing a boot!) at the student fashion show in her skirt! **************************
there were some lovely sewing vendors too: @peacockcollectionbuttons with vintage fabrics, trims and buttons, @avfkw (no pics) with hand-dyed floss and sweet kits, and @brooklynhaberdashery (also no pics) with all sorts of tools, kits and cases! i bought an adorable pair of tiny japanese snippers there, which i’ll show you another time. @cocoknits also has a selection of cool tools for sewists, which warrants a separate post as well. *****************************

Day 8 of Yarnuary. My knitting buddies. Janika taught me how to knit at work. I called her the knit nazi lol. Leslie has been my knit squad since I moved to Moreno Valley and we discovered we had a shared love of string and sticks. Leslie also showed me that Michael’s and Joann’s is not where it’s at lol.
