One last NYC post. 🚕

This was a dream of a trip and we tried to pack in as much as possible to celebrate our guy turning 15. 💛

Definitely would not have been possible without my parents and in-laws who each contributed to make this a special experience. Thank you!

Until next time!

(This is gonna be a long caption)
Last year, I began the commissioning process at my church to become a licensed minister.

Our Executive Lead Team affirmed my calling and took intentional steps to further equip me to live it out. Over the past several months, I’ve met regularly with my ELT mentor, Vicki. We talked through every aspect of ministry leadership, read a book together, and developed a personal ministry philosophy. She also arranged for me to meet with Pastor Derwin to discuss sermon preparation and Pastor Paul to learn more about pastoral counseling.

I’ve been poured into and challenged by each of our executive leaders in different ways—not only throughout this process, but throughout my entire time at TC, ever since I first showed up from Miami eight years ago.

Two weeks ago, I completed the final step of the process: an oral evaluation with our ELT. Let me tell you—it was tough. I’m not going to pretend I wasn’t nervous. I’m not going to pretend I knew every answer. But what I will tell you is this: it was a beautiful experience in which I felt loved, challenged, and affirmed.

By the end, I passed.
And yes, I cried big, fat tears.

When I was a child, I wanted to be a nun (true story). As I grew older, accepted Jesus as my Savior, and discerned His call on my life, there were moments—years, even—when I felt confused, overlooked, dismissed, or ashamed. But never at TC.
Here, I’ve been given space to wonder and learn, to fail and try again, to lead and shepherd.

Today, the ELT and staff prayed over me, and my husband and kids were there to witness it all. And my dad flew in to surprise me! Again, big fat tears.

I’m grateful for a church that affirms and champions women in ministry. I’m grateful for the immense honor of being commissioned as a minister to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. And I’m grateful that, above all else, I’m God’s daughter—clothed in the righteousness of Christ, created on purpose and for a purpose, and invited to partner with our Heavenly Father in bringing heaven to earth.

Thank you, Jesus.
