SÍÐASTI LEIKUR SUMARSINS Við sækjum Víking heim á Víkingsvöllinn í Fossvogi á föstudag í lokaumferð neðri hluta Bestu deildarinnar. Gríðarlega mikilvægur leikur fyrir bæði lið og vel þegið að sjá og heyra í okkar fólki í stúkunni. Þökkum stuðninginn heima og að heiman á tímabilinu. #viðerumþórka #hærrasaman #bestadeildin

LEIKDAGUR - SÍÐASTI HEIMALEIKURINN Minnum á að það er frítt á leik dagsins í boði Grand þvottar ehf. og Bílaleigu Akureyrar, ef það skyldi hafa farið framhjá einhverjum. Þurfum varla að minna okkar fólk á mikilvægi þessa leiks í æsispennandi baráttu fjögurra liða í neðri hluta Bestu deildarinnar um að halda sæti í deildinni. Stuðningur ykkar getur skipt sköpum. Við skulum því fjölmenna á þennan síðasta heimaleik tímabilsins og styðja stelpurnar okkar af krafti, alla leið, frá upphafi til enda. Hærra saman! #viðerumþórka #hærrasaman #bestadeildin

Let's talk Agility fundamentals. One of my all-time favorite research studies tested professional athletes over a variety of movements and showed that the ability to sprint over short distances, the ability to sprint over long distances, and the ability to change direction, were all separate, distinct skill sets. Translation? In order to improve your agility (or your acceleration or your maximum velocity), you have to specifically train it! Agility training, then, can be broken down into two separate domains, Open Skill exercises and Closed Skill exercises. Closed Skill exercises are what most people think of when they think Agility training: cone drills, ladder drills, etc. These are exercises where you know exactly where you should go (i.e. "run to this cone, cut, run back") each rep. Closed Skill drills look cool on social media... but the research will show you that they have very limited transfer to your sport. That's because sport is what is called an Open Skill. Rather than know where you have to go each step (like in a cone drill), Open Skill drills make you respond to your environment. Open Skill drills, then have you read someone's movement or respond to a coaching cue in unplanned, reactive environments. THIS is what real Agility is....and it's highly specific to your sport and your position. At ATSC, then, we build better agility by getting SAVAGELY good at your Agility fundamentals - producing and reducing forces, in multiple planes, across speeds, and at varying loads. Add in a heavy emphasis on proper movement mechancis and multi-planar general strength, and now you have the foundation to be able to move more explosively through your sport's Open Skill demands! Here's an example of how we do this through one exercise, the Lateral Bound. You can see the progressions athletes go through, from single effort jumps, to loaded jumps, to reactive jumps, to reactive/multi-vector jumps. As you master one level, you can progress to the next! Building better agility takes more than just training... it takes training smart. If you're interested in getting more athletic, gives us a shout to see what ATSC can do for you!
