Heartstopper Forever Premiere!

Thank you so much @netflixuk @ddaglobal for inviting me and letting me bring the biggest fan I know ❤️

It was amazing to see the community Alice Oseman has built from the show and the graphic novel, and it just shows how important series like these are to create safe spaces for people.

I thought it was a great send off for the characters, and definitely a tear jerker 😭

Heartstopper Forever World Premiere 🍂🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Usually, I like my captions to be short, snarky, and somewhere between having a god complex and self-deprecating humour. But this one deserves a little more:

@heartstopper will always, like it has for so many others, have a special place in my heart. When the show first came out in 2022, I couldn’t bring myself to watch it. Seeing two queer kids fall in love was such a foreign concept to me because it simply wasn’t the reality I grew up with.

I’ve spoken about the show a few times on my socials and have always described watching it as a conflicting feeling. Seeing queer love represented so beautifully fills me with so much joy, but also so much envy that, back in the early 2010s, when 14-year-old Vincent came out, nothing like this existed for me to watch. Heartstopper Forever is no different. Watching the characters grow up, reminisce about their school years, and figure out what’s next in their lives (from relationships and breakups to the personal growth they’ve experienced, both individually and as a group of friends) just feels...normal. And that’s the key word.

Queer cinema is still so often treated as something taboo, when all it’s doing is representing someone else’s normal. We’ve seen endless shows where two characters were clearly destined to be together, but the writers or producers were too afraid of the conversations it might spark. Especially at a time like this, when queer people, and especially our trans friends, are losing rights across the world, and conversations questioning our existence continue to make headlines, a show like Heartstopper reminds people that love is just love.

A massive thank you to @aliceoseman for sharing Nick and Charlie’s story with us, the entire cast for bringing these characters to life so beautifully, and @netflixuk, especially @monique_blanche, for the invite! 🤍

I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for an episode drop because I NEED Stranger Things Season 5 RIGHT NOW 😭

That first episode (and 8 minutes of episode 2) was INSANE and just being flung back into this world reminded me why I love this show so much. I can’t believe it’s been going on for almost 10 years now, and it’ll all be over in a month 😔

I have to give massive thanks to @netflixuk for allowing me to take part in so many activities this week. From the episode, to First Shadow, the VR Experience and even having the opportunity to interview some of the cast!? I can’t wait to share everything and start discussing the show when the season starts, I’m in such a Stranger Things mood right now haha!
