POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I love visiting libraries AND talking about libraries in equal measure. Podcasting with the @librarieschangelives team today at @cityofmelbournelibraries for their new podcast, reflecting on my Library Ambassador role and what I've learnt over the past 16 months in the role. It's been an adventure, honour, eye opener and complete joy! You'll have to tune it when it's live (I'll share the link!)

Lights! Camera! Action!

It's beginning to feel like BIG SUMMER READ season.

This week @librarieschangelives and I joined the @storyboxhub team for summer reading filming at the bright and welcoming Julia Gillard Library, Tarneit @librariesinwyndham

I'm always in the best of hands with Storybox's Shona and Rocket while filming, and it was wonderful to enjoy the fun with @angela_savage_author and Christine Peters and the Library team too in my Library Ambassador role. We were a happy bright reading bunch in our Big Summer Read t-shirts.

I can't wait for young readers to meet our 2026/27 Big Summer Read ambassadors and get stuck into a summer of reading fun!

Stay tuned for more soon!

@librarieschangelives Library Ambassador reporting for duty with @eastgippyshire Libraries ... I was thrilled to see Library Support Officer Delia and the mobile library van supporting the @loveyourbookshopau Day festivities at @schoolworks_bairnsdale on the weekend.

Delia's welcoming ways signed up a number of new library members of all ages on the day - reminding us that readers come to books through bookstores and libraries, and that both establishments are excellent collaborators for community literacy cheerleading.

Welcome to library life to all the new East Gippsland library users. And thanks @schoolworks_bairnsdale for including our wonderful @librarieschangelives library team.

Was your wake up call as fun as mine today?

So wonderful to spend the morning supporting the @frankstoncitylibraries @frankstoncity team for a tonne of library fun with @sammacinsta weather crosses on Sunrise.

We bookaroked, story timed, crafted, morning exercised and shared books with Frankston library users and the whole of Australia too on this national Morning TV show.

Not only was it wonderful to celebrate this amazing library and it's incredibly skilled and welcoming staff, but it was equally wonderful as Victoria's Library Ambassador to help reinforce why and how libraries are gathering spaces for all.

I met some lovely library users and reunited with some fabulous story time families while hanging out at this very early hour, and loved cheering on the viral Bookaroke crew who have captured our hearts on social media with songs and stories.

Congratulations to the entire Frankston City Libraries team for an outstanding morning celebrating how you turn up for the community (even before sunrise!).

Libraries - you make waking up early worth it!!!

Enjoy this capture of my morning with the gang and bonus points if you can find 3 of my @hardiegrantkids books with @hannahmsommerville and @tess_crawley_writes in some of the shots (one isn't even out yet - hint - the Mayor may be holding it!)

💙🐦 AURA PARKER’S BOWERBIRD SERIES — LITERACY, STEM & ART!

Written and illustrated by Australian creator Aura Parker, Bowerbird Blues, Bowerbird Brood, Bowerbird Bloom and Bowerbird Brave beautifully combine storytelling, nature, STEM learning and art. 📚✨

🔎 My granddaughters and I especially love the “Can You Find?” challenges in the detailed endpapers — searching together adds another layer of fun, observation and discovery to reading.

🐺 And coming in November — Wolf Baby! Another beautifully illustrated story with wonderful details to discover that left us feeling warm and fuzzy.

🎄 A wonderful Australian series to consider for Christmas, or borrow from your school or public library.

📚 For more information, contact Charlotte at Schoolworks Bairnsdale.

📚✨ THE GOOD DECISION — A VERY GOOD DECISION!

From the award-winning creative team behind Dear Broccoli comes another wonderful Australian picture book!
🥦 Dear Broccoli, written by Jo Dabrowski and illustrated by Cate James, was the 2026 CBCA Shadow Judging Picture Book of the Year winner — chosen by young readers who read, discuss and judge the shortlisted books before selecting their winner. 👏📚

Now Jo and Cate are back with The Good Decision — an engaging story that gives young readers plenty to think about, notice and discuss.

I recently read this beautiful book with my granddaughters, and seeing the story through their eyes made me appreciate even more the wonderful detail and humour within Cate’s illustrations. ❤️

📖 It would be a GOOD DECISION to contact Charlotte at Schoolworks Bairnsdale to find out more — and remember to shop local and support independent bookshops.

📚 Or borrow a copy from your school or public library. Libraries Change Lives.

This month on the Safe Cat, Safe Wildlife blog we partnered with Public Libraries Victoria to curate a cute list of kitty-themed books for our cat-loving community.

The best part? All books can be loaned for free from your local public library! To celebrate, we borrowed some terrific titles to read to our adorable shelter cats 🐾

Thank you to our friends @zoosvictoria and @librarieschangelives for pawtnering with us on Safe Cat, Safe Wildlife 💖
