I had such a powerful time at the premiere of @fck_drugs_film last weekend. This documentary feels deeply necessary, it opens up a conversation we often avoid. In a world where some of us still don’t have the space to fully be ourselves, temporary escape through chemsex can become a dangerous comfort zone. I deeply admire the bravery of every cast member in this film for telling their stories in the most honest way. This topic is very close to me, and I have quite a history with chemsex. I had the opportunity to be the MUAH together with Mamaqueen for the fictional part of the documentary. During filming, while watching the actors in action on set, it took me back to a time when I used to run around chasing the high, until, God knows what happened to me that night. They say the body remembers, and on set that day, I couldn’t help but burst into tears, sobbing. It felt like an out-of-body experience where I was hugging myself and saying, “Oh baby, you are safe now. You are not there anymore.” I was basically triggered, but in the best way possible. And having @iammamaqueen there holding me tight was such a precious moment, I’m truly grateful for the bond we share. It felt like a full-circle moment for me, from where I was to where I am now, making art out of my painful memories. On the premiere day at @rozefilmdagen, I also got the opportunity to hold space and perform my spoken word piece called “Chemsexua” alongside a beautiful soundscape in collaboration with the talented @joelisextracool. Thank you so much, babe, your music really elevated this piece. I cannot wait to share what we’ve been working on. It was an intense piece, but it felt right performing it at an event where people showed up with open hearts. Thank you @rein.vanleeuwen and @jesse_bleekemolen for creating something so important, and for inviting me to be part of such a meaningful night. And congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this project to life. I adore you all!! @fck_drugs_film is streaming on @bnnvara NPO3 on the 16th of April. You don’t want to miss this!!
