The artists for 2026 Art at Ancrum 📢

We're delighted to present an incredible range of artists from a variety of mediums this year.

From painters to potters, wood or metal workers, glass, leather and textiles, there's something for everyone to enjoy this weekend.

So why not take a trip to the village, peruse the artist's work and support local talent from across the Scottish Borders and Northumberland.

Aftwerwards you can even stop off for a cuppa and cake from @the_lavender_touch tearoom in the Village Hall, or a bite to eat from The Ancrum Pantry. The Haggis Box is also available for takeaways.

Check out the young people's art exhibition in the Church, see the stained glass windows including the William Johnstone, and learn about @artaffect_transpositions in Jedburgh and their upcoming artist workshops and exhibitions.

There will be live music as well as daily demonstrations and workshops, as well as a kids art activity and prize draw within the Church.

We're looking forward to welcoming you to Ancrum this year, and don't forget to check the weather forecast, wear comfortable shoes for walking and pick up your map and brochure from the information point in the village.

Art at Ancrum 2nd to 4th May 10.00am to 5.00pm daily.

Our artists are busy creating new artwork to showcase at Art at Ancrum on 2nd - 4th May (early May Bank Holiday weekend).

We asked the artists if they could share some of their processes, doing a specific task such as painting, soldering, etching, hammering, weaving etc.

Thank you to all the artists who took part, allowing us to watch their piece evolve behind the scenes.

Returning this year is landscape painter Linda Foster.
Venue 3 - Ancrum Bowling Club

Linda employs a wide variety of watercolour painting techniques and is always looking for new ways of using this versatile medium to represent the landscapes she loves.

She is passionate about water-based media and enjoys experimenting with a wide range of techniques. Linda is always looking for new ways of using this versatile medium to represent the landscapes she loves. Often using a limited palette of colours to capture the drama in a landscape which is constantly changed by the light and shadow of the natural elements.

Linda is influenced by wide sweeps of mountains, moorland and sea in her landscapes, and is fascinated by the detail of drystone walls, rock outcrops and lichens, and in particular, windblown trees.

“The counterpoint of detail within expansive spaces coupled with the alchemy of watercolours themselves has excited and inspired me throughout my life, I endeavour to represent the feelings these landscapes evoke rather than reproduce a specific scene” – Linda Foster.

You will be able to find Linda Foster in Venue 3 The Ancrum Bowling Club, and can learn more on their website https://www.lindafoster.co.uk/ or Instagram @lidnaf

Art at Ancrum 2nd to 4th May 10.00am to 5.00pm daily.

🌸 Inspired by flora and foliage 🌿

We asked the artists if they have ever been inspired by flowers or leaves to create their artwork, a perfect way to celebrate the Spring equinox

We asked our artists what their favourite tools are, or a piece of equipment they use to create their artwork that they couldn't live without.

Such as a favourite paint brush, an unusual tool, tools on their bench, a tool that makes their life easier.

We have some unusual tools from a huge range of art forms including:
● Weaving
● Embroidery
● Sketching
● Blacksmithing
● Ceramics & pottery
● Painting
● Glass fusing
● Linocut printmaking
● Leathercraft
● Pyrography
● Silversmithing
● Stained glass
● Jewellery making
● Sandblasting & etching
● Stone carving
● Mixed media

We can't wait to see what our artists create using their tools of the trade at Art at Ancrum 2nd to 4th May 10.00am to 5.00pm daily in the village of Ancrum, Scottish Borders.

Many of our artists are getting ready for @borders_art_fair on 13th - 15th March in Kelso.

As well as creating new artwork and stock for showcasing at Art at Ancrum on 2nd - 4th May.

Many of this year's artists have been inspired by the Woodlands. Whether that be landscapes, woodland animals, dappled light through trees, or even the textures and patterns found in the forests and woodlands.

In the run up to Art at Ancrum 2026, we invite our participating artists to take part in sharing their art, their processes and behind the scenes work with us and our followers.

The first 'ask the artist' prompt is inspiration found in the woodlands, tag us in any related posts or stories, we'd love to see them.

We found this atmospheric piece on social media by artist Linda Foster @lidnaf. She kindly credited our TR 300lb full Imperial paper.

She used a combination of salt and gorgeous Rockwell paints to create this stunning surface. @tworiverspaper #tworiverspaper
