Bringing meaningful life stories and experience to song.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What am I doing? What is @life2song? I’ll tell you what I’m NOT doing….i ain’t using my gifts to participate in an industry of creativity that’s sucked the meaning out of the art and treated the artist like a commodity instead of a soul.

These songs are not art. They are mirrors, translations, living jewels that embody the essence of a human being having an experience of life. Why perpetuate the notion that art is for entertainment exclusively?

I advocate that our myriad ways of interpreting and reflecting this human experience be of higher service to our state of being. May we course correct our mental health, may we leave behind better juju when we leave, and may our communication technologies reincorporate the first language of humanity….music.

If you’re ready, drop a dm and tell me you have a story to tell.

It’s not exactly a new conversation anymore…
the one about how social media, content, news, television, ads, and all the noise are absolutely wreaking havoc on our brains, our souls, and our mental health.

And yet it’s what so many of us magnetize toward.
Myself included.

Ironically, I can’t seem to get enough of a social media rant reminding me that the very thing I’m doing right now may be working against my own best interests.

So here I am.
Leaning in.
Making my own posts about how content isn’t really what it’s all about.

Part of that is devil’s advocate.
Part of it is rebellion.
But part of it is also sincere hope.

If I’m doing this with any real integrity, it’s because I want these little pieces of content to hook you into something deeper.
A real conversation.
A real consideration.
A real moment where you choose a more meaningful experience with somebody in your life away from the screen.

So yes, maybe it’s a trick.
But these days, we haven’t exactly given ourselves a lot of tools or options for redirecting our energy back toward one another in a real way.
And honestly, “in person” can even mean a Zoom call these days.

I guess what I’m saying is this:
can we keep trying?
Can we do the best we can for ourselves and still give real presence a chance?

And when you feel that thing creeping in…
the doom scroll, the numbness, the weird little pity party that the internet can amplify so well…
maybe reach out.
Maybe we talk.

And then maybe I write you a song.
Maybe that helps both of us.

he fact that we express ourselves is not what makes us special.
Just like the fact that we breathe is not what makes us special.
These are part of being human. They belong to all of us.

So why do we so often let those things pull us into competition?
Why do we let them define our worth?
Why do we let them create distance between us?

If I am strong, maybe what matters most is how that strength helps carry something bigger than myself.
If I breathe, maybe what matters is whether I use that breath to speak something true.
If I love, maybe what matters is whether that love can actually be felt by others.

An old friend once told me that one of the great tensions of being an artist is feeling the need to share what moves through you.
I understand that deeply.
I’ve also shared from places in myself that wanted validation, attention, reassurance.
I think most of us have, in one way or another.

Maybe the invitation is not to stop expressing ourselves, but to grow more intentional about why and how we do it.
To let our gifts become vehicles for deeper connection, not just personal identity.

And still, I hope people never stop creating for themselves first.
I hope we keep tending to our own inner life.
And I hope that as we learn to care for ourselves more honestly, we become more able to offer something real to the people around us—on purpose.

I think I’m done over-identifying with being an artist.

Not because I don’t love what I do, but because I no longer think the point is to be seen as special.

The deeper role, as I see it, is to help restore our ways of communication. And that might be one of the most overlooked functions of art.

People hear artist and think entertainer, prophet, troubled soul, role model, cool person. But art is not the artist. Art is what happens when someone becomes disciplined and open enough to get out of the way and let something true come through.

That doesn’t make the artist better than anyone else. It means they practiced listening.

Maybe we’ve spent too long putting artists on pedestals. I’m more interested in art as service now — art that helps people feel, understand, and connect more honestly.

Less image.More human connection.Less pedestal.More bridge.

People want to make art.
Simple.

But somewhere along the way, our culture convinced artists that in order to justify doing what they love, they have to be the most original, the most magnetic, the most validated, the most followed, the most undeniable.

And I think we’re missing the point.

I think the systems around art miss the point.
I think the audiences often miss the point.
And I think artists themselves often miss the point.

Because the things people most deeply respond to in art are rarely “new.”

Love is not new.
Heartbreak is not new.
Longing is not new.
Wanting to matter is not new.
Wanting to heal is not new.

These are not rare truths.
They are human truths.

And yet somehow, when those same truths are carried by the right face, the right image, the right timing, the right social proof, people flock to it as if they’ve found something sacred…

when often what they’ve really found is just a well-positioned projection.

Meanwhile, what many of us are actually starving for is much older and much more real:

The synchronized breath.
The conversation after the song.
The eye contact.
The feeling of being understood by someone whose life touched the same fire in a different way.

That matters to me more and more.

Because if art loses its humanity,
if it becomes only image, performance, branding, and theater…

then what exactly are we doing?

And who gets to decide what’s important anymore?

I think we are being asked, more than ever, to return to what is real.
To what is embodied.
To what is shared.
To what is actually happening in the room.

Not just what is being projected on the screen.

That’s where I believe the deepest art still lives.

I’ve been feeling pretty fed up with the amount of distortion in the creative world lately.

And I include myself in that.

It feels like a lot of us get stuck in the phase of needing to be seen…
needing validation…
needing our voice to matter.

And I’m not saying the art isn’t valid.
It is. It’s beautiful. It’s necessary.

But I don’t know if the world just needs more versions of the same lessons
repackaged through individual expression.

I think it might need something deeper.

I think it needs more presence.
More real connection.
More meaningful moments with the people right in front of us.

Less performance.
More witnessing.

I know I’ve missed that at times.

I think we can do better.

I’m exploring what that looks like for me.

This is a Life2Song.

It was born from the voice and lived wisdom of someone who’s spent her whole life around horses —
a woman who’s carried bales, brushed coats, and listened more than she spoke.
Her stories carry depth, grit, and love — the kind you only earn with time.

We turned her words into a song.
This is the chorus, one of many in our Through the Eyes of a Horse collection — a Life2Song series rooted in the healing, mystery, and power of the equine spirit.

“O Appaloosa, how you stay
Wild and Free
Out in the stable is a beautiful mystery
Like a bale on my shoulder becomes my therapy
O Appaloosa, keep on talking to me.”

Songs like this remind us that wisdom lives in unlikely places — in barns, in silences, in shared moments between horse and human.

Some songs are meant to be passed down.

This one came through while working with the Inspiring Children Foundation —
a project rooted in truth, healing, and giving voice to what too often goes unspoken between generations.

We’re not just singing for today.
We’re singing for the ones who came before us…
and the ones we’re raising now.

This is part of the Life2Song collection — created to hold space for the stories, struggles, and love that shape our lives.

Your $10/month to #Spotify doesn’t reach most of the people making the music you love.
The artists who give it value? They see scraps — if anything at all.

When I sit down to write something I plan to share, I give it everything.
Not for virality. Not for ego.
But because I know music can be medicine.

And yeah — I pray it comes back to me sustainably.
Because that’s not out of alignment. That’s basic energetic exchange.

We’re in a strange moment in history.
Art used to live outside of money.
Now it’s tracked, streamed, dissected…
But are we really supporting the ones creating it?

What if we added an art tax — something that actually went to the artists?
A modern tithe for the makers?

Just something to consider.
Because the way we consume is shaping the future we live in.

Music doesn’t belong to experts.
It’s for everyone — always has been.

There’s beauty in the basic and familiar form of a chord progression.
And there’s beauty in the colors that show up as you spend more time with it.
Both matter. And both are very hip.

If this stuff sparks questions — call me.
Seriously. That’s why I do this.

“This is what it looks like when a room remembers how to sing together.
No audience. No performance. Just people… reclaiming something sacred.

At @saturdaysoulco , I led the group in a singalong of ‘Hey Mama’ — a love song to the elements. We weren’t just singing about nature, we were singing with it.

Moments like this are why I do what I do — guiding people back to their voice, their story, their connection to the source of life.

Through Life2Song, we help individuals, families, and communities remember who they are through song.
And on Angel Radio we amplify these moments — turning them into ripples that can be felt far beyond one room.

This is more than music.
It’s a return to ourselves and our most ancient language.”
