truly the best day of my life! the day that I gave my life to Christ because he saved a broken wrench like me and showed me my purpose and gave me life. words will never be able to describe the change and presence of God in my life. TYJ for the community I have to sharpen, strengthen, and support me. This process was never easy and had many ups and downs along the way but God time after time reminded me that the wounds that I thought destroyed me didn’t define my worth in him. 😮‍💨😮‍💨 This is definitely going to be an extremely vulnerable share. So much has transpired over the last 6 years of my life. Between a life altering experience (a grease fire burn accident) & the aftermath of battling anxiety, depression, ptsd, & literally hell. I thought the Lord, my God was punishing me. Yet in the midst of it all, I still remember when I heard His voice for the very first time & He said, “Darrius. Darrius. I am not finished with you yet. I still have more for you.” To this day, I still don’t understand what He means by that. But praise the Lord because of His faithfulness. As I’ve grown older in age & in faith, I’ve learned to draw closer to Him. I cannot begin to express how I’ve grown to trust Him as my Father, Friend, Shepherd, Lord & Savior. I thank Him for His anointed elders, leaders, ministers, pastors and teachers. When I left the military, I had no idea about where He would lead me. All I simply said to Him was, “Lord, don’t not let me be without Your Presence & Your Provision. I will go wherever You send me.” I am beyond grateful that He lead me to my church home. And I especially grateful that I’ve grown deeper in my faith. I praise Him for others who have hearts fully surrendered to Him & who are help leading others towards Him. During my darkest & unspeakable days & moments, I remember hearing hymns & worship music in my spirit & was at peace because I knew that the Lord had not forgotten about me. In those days, I remember calling out to El Roi (the God who see me) & Elohim Shama (the God who hears me). The prayer that came in the form of a song (I am Thine, O Lord by [my favorite Gospel Auntie] CeCe Winans). “Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord by the power of grace devine. Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope & my will be lost in Thine. Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord to the cross where thou has died. Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord to Thy precious bleeding side.” 😮‍💨😭🙌🏾 As I continue in my strive to become more like my Beloved Jesus, I will continue to do exactly what He said to do. “Abide in me & I in you.” (John 15:4)
