Bittersweet doesn’t even begin to describe my final class before surgery. 🥹❤️

Before class ended, I made one last request for my favorite song with my favorite instructor @momdelong.gets.fit I didn’t catch it on video, but honestly, the moment meant more than any video ever could.

We had already completed an ENTIRE class, and when I asked for just ONE more song, every single person stayed. 🥹

Nobody had to. Nobody was obligated. But everyone showed up for one more song, one more moment, and for each other. We moved together, we pushed together, and in that moment, we were all united. It meant absolutely EVERYTHING to me. ❤️

@lifetime_cypress This is why I love my gym so much. It’s not just a gym membership. It’s a community, a support system, and a reminder that sometimes the strongest part of us is the people standing beside us.

Walking away for a little while is bittersweet, but my heart is so full.

And to my two loyal followers, don’t worry… I WILL be back, and we WILL be posting again! 🤣🤣 Thank you for sticking around during this brief intermission in my fitness influencer career. 💀😂❤️

No, I’m not training to become an astronaut!

This is me during my Active Metabolic Assessment, and what an interesting experience it was!

At 63, I thought I knew quite a bit about my body after all the workouts, fitness classes, and challenges I’ve been doing. Well, apparently there’s still plenty to learn!

So, what exactly is an Active Metabolic Assessment?

It’s a treadmill test using a special mask that measures how your body uses oxygen and produces carbon dioxide during exercise. It helps determine your cardiovascular fitness, how your body uses carbohydrates and fat for energy, and your personalized heart-rate training zones.

And I learned a few things about myself!

My estimated VO₂ max was 33.2, placing me in the optimal category for my age according to the assessment. That was particularly encouraging after several weeks of not working out as consistently as I normally do.

I also discovered that my body relies heavily on carbohydrates during exercise, even at lower intensities. Something I had no idea about!

And here’s something worth knowing: burning a higher percentage of fat during a workout doesn’t necessarily mean losing more body fat.

A huge thank-you to @jy0ung2 , who is absolutely amazing! He took the time to walk me through my results, explain what the numbers meant, and help me understand how to use that information to make my workouts more effective.

For those of you who are Life Time members, I highly encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to do an Active Metabolic Assessment!

It’s a great way to learn more about your body instead of just guessing.

My biggest takeaway?

Exercise smarter, not just harder.

Because at 63, I’m still learning, still challenging myself, and apparently still full of surprises!
