Introducing ANDRIANA.

A home designed as an antidote to a busy life.

Studio Ludic was involved from the very beginning, working through the floorplan and spatial planning, then carrying the vision through the selection of both external and internal finishes, fixtures, lighting, furniture and artwork.

The design takes cues from Mid-Century Modernism — warm timber, sculptural forms, chrome details, natural stone and furniture with personality — balanced by a soft, dreamy palette of light cloud grey, earthy neutrals and layered texture.

Then there are the curves. From the kitchen island and mirrors to cabinetry, walls and architectural junctions, softened edges appear throughout Andriana, balancing the stronger geometry of the architecture.

The bathrooms allowed us to play a little more. Deep taupe finger tiles, terrazzo-style stone, penny rounds and brushed metal create a moodier, more cocooning experience.

The kitchen continues the restraint — light cabinetry, beautiful natural stone, hand-finished tile, soft curves and a darker timber bar tucked alongside it.

For the exterior, we deliberately stepped away from the typical Sunshine Coast formula of off-white and pale coastal timber. Instead, the material palette was grounded in Buderim itself — the mountain landscape, native trees and surrounding wildlife — using warmer timbers, earthy masonry and natural tones to give the home a stronger sense of place.

And throughout it all: texture over excess.
Timber. Stone. Metal. Linen. Velvet. Glass. Art. Greenery.

Nothing fighting for attention, but plenty to discover.

Andriana isn’t about following one particular style. It’s about creating a feeling - Warm. Grounded. A little nostalgic. Quietly luxurious.

And most importantly, a refuge from the noise of the world outside. A home designed for busy people to simply… slow down.

——— BEHIND THE WORK ———

One of my favourite places to be is behind the camera. For HŌLUS-BŌLUS, I worked with photographer Nick Caldwell to capture the interiors and designers/artists behind the apartments works, I just didn’t want it to be a standard portrait, but a little bit more of them within the frames.

Creatives can be surprisingly nervous in front of a camera. I love shaking that out of them. Making them move, laugh, loosen up, grab something, sit somewhere they probably shouldn’t and whatever it takes to get past the “portrait face”.

The aim was to make each image somehow connect back to their practice, personality or the world they create. Because the people behind the work are often just as interesting as the work itself.
