There’s a few more of you than there was before, so it felt only right to do a little reintroduction.

My name is Lex, I primarily read crime / thriller books but realistically anything where the characters are put through their worst nightmares. I wouldn’t class Taylor Jenkins Reid or Jodi Picoult as thriller writers, but they’re still in my top ten authors of all time.

Event planning for my favourite authors is one of my favourite elements of my job. Bringing the details books to life and making authors feel special is the dream.

Attending events like this still have me feeling 🥹👀💀

You might recognise these bookshelves; this is where you’ll find me on my work-from-home days.

Occasionally I get to do some public speaking, which I always find terrifying, but I love it. (This is me at Frankfurt Book Fair!)

I love physical books, audiobooks and ebooks; and I’ll typically always have one of each going at once time.

I’d love to write my own books one day, I’m currently working on a 25k short writing project, and then we’ll tackle a full novel. A thriller. Obviously.

I have huge respect for both traditionally published and self-published authors and believe that despite all of the publishing industry’s faults (and there are many!) there’s never been more opportunity to see your book for sale and in people’s hands.

Some of my favourite authors are John Marrs, Tariq Ashkanani, Jack Jordan, Lisa Jewell, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Jodi Picoult, Alice Feeney - the list goes on!

📚SYNOPSIS📚

Cardiff, 1972: A series of killings holds the city in fear. Six bodies have been discovered, posed, around the city – and each corpse consists of a decapitated body with a different head sewn on.

Only one body has never been identified and has become known as The Domino Man.
The case is never solved.

Cardiff, 2022: The Kendall Institute is responsible for looking into cold cases when the police cannot afford the time or the money to investigate. Founded by Wales scrum half Wyn Davies, the team comprises forensic scientist Lydia Beynon; ex-Gwent Constabulary Dave Hopkins; and the digital team of twins Ariadne and Osian Thomas.

Anna Edwards, their newest recruit, arrives as the Domino Man case is re-opened. Anna is starting her life afresh, having escaped from a coercively controlling husband.

As the Domino Man case unfurls in all its intriguing psychological complexity, Anna is at the heart of the investigation, helping her new colleagues to piece together the clues and solve the most challenging and satisfying brainteaser of a crime. But all the while her past is coming to catch up with her . . .

I will tell you this now it was refreshing having a mystery thriller The main character has a chronic illness and does so much justice in showcasing the effects that it has on the body, mind and everyday life and has a support system at the new place of work that will let her adapt her ability if necessary.

Anna Edwards has been through so much through recent years and is starting anew if her estranged abusive husband lets her. And trying to reconnect with her friend she lost through her marriage and the controlling hold her husband had on her.

Also trying to solve this cold case of the domino man and what happened to the 6 body,when with Anna super skills have made notably crucial discoveries as well as the rest of the incredibly smart and intelligent team at the Kendal institute and deep horrid truths.

When all they want is to who the bodies are and why they were targeted for the families who can't grief or know what happened. Feels living with the ghost of not knowing what happened to a loved one and you just can't let go.

If you've read this, do you have a favourite? I think mine is story two: The Nightmare House. So unsettling and psychologically, it shows the reality of postpartum which makes it difficult to know if it's real or not.

It’s officially fright night and we NEED to talk about this book!!

A horror collection, 3 short stories - have I sold it to you yet?

🎃 A birthday dinner that takes a VERY wrong turn after a séance goes awry. 🎃 A new forever home that might just be a family’s worst nightmare. 🎃 A roadside shop selling cursed items - because what could possibly go wrong there?!

Three stories, three very different setups and SO many reasons to question every decision these characters make 😂

But, we need talk about The Nightmare House for a second! Because this one was my FAVEEEE! There’s something about a creepy house - and unsettling neighbours. Proper gave you that feeling something just isn’t right and makes me question everyone and everything, the whole way through. The atmosphere in this one had me hooked, I was here for all the creepy, unsettling vibes!

Fright Night with @tandemcollectiveuk GIFTED

A book for this Halloween- Sometimes I Scare Myself by @jenevaroseauthor is the perfect spooky, night-in read.

Three stories which will all give you the creepy vibes.

Story 1 is Never Kill The Medium- Erica planned her birthday dinner to perfection but she had no idea her boyfriend had invited a medium and things go sideways!

Story 2 is The Nightmare House- A family moves to a new home as they need a change. Kristin and Patrick feel that the neighbourhood is slightly strange and when weird things start happening in the house they question if the house is haunted or is it!

Story 3 is All Curses Are Final- A group of friends take a trip to a cabin and on the way they come across a gas station that not only sells the normal things but they also sell cursed items! When an item appears in Blair’s bag they all start to think curses may be real!

My favourite story was number 2 I absolutely love a haunted house story and this one was brilliant 🤩

What better way to spend the spooky season than with not one, but three great horror stories?! Thanks to @tandemcollectiveuk I have my snacks and ouija board to go with my book! Three creepy stories that I absolutely devoured! Absolute 5 star ⭐ read.

Each one had its own completely different nightmare, and I loved how quick, addictive and unsettling they were.

🔮 Never Kill the Medium — A séance gone horribly wrong? I was hooked immediately.

🏚️ The Nightmare House — This one really got under my skin. There’s something terrifying about knowing something is wrong and having nobody believe you.

❄️ All Curses Are Final — MY FAVOURITE! A shop selling cursed items, a remote cabin, a snowstorm and everyone turning on each other… this story was made for me. 😂👀

Creepy, twisted and so much fun. And apparently I’ve learned nothing, because I’d still be tempted to enter a shop with an “All items cursed” sign. 😂

I really do think this is the IDEAL Halloween spooky read, it has three short stories which I couldn’t help but devour. Each story is completely unique and they are all so atmospheric…..I’m a wimp and I had to make sure I read this during the daytime!! 😂
All three stories had me tense and anxious and almost scared to turn the page. But my favourite was The Nightmare House, as a mum that story really hit me hard!

I definitely recommend picking this book up if you are looking for something spooky.

Sometimes I scare myself? Jeneva Babe, same.

A collection of horror novellas by @jenevaroseauthor that proves you can, in fact, fit a worrying amount of psychological damage into a small stories.

Short, sharp, unsettling little nightmares for those of us who think a relaxing evening involves fictional people making increasingly terrible decisions.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Am I sleeping with the big light on? Mind your business.
