lago di como- the first place i ever solo traveled 🇮🇹

although, i got the sense that i wasnt truly alone. lake como was my nana’s favorite place in the world, a place we always planned to go together. i brought her purses, scarves, jewelry & clothing. i shared stories about her, took a boat ride in her honor & ended almost every night at a boujie hotel bar overlooking a floating pool on the most beautiful lake while sipping on a whiskey sour in her honor. my last day there i opened the safe in the hotel room, a safe I had opened many times, a safe that only had my passport in it… and it smelled just like her. 🤍

people will tell you it’s too crowded or touristy… its not. there are many relaxed authentic places to stay with daily ferries that can take you to places like bellagio or menagio if you want (i didnt i think shopping on vacation is weird.) people will tell you it’s too hot… it’s not. i was there during one of the worst heatwaves in italy & was it a little annoying? at times but i was in freaking italy drinking spritzes on a massive lake… chill out get some gratitude and jump in you’ll figure it out. (go earlier in the summer and you’ll be fine & it’s very unlikely you’ll be there during a record breaking heatwave that’s just how my luck goes)

stay in TREMEZZO at VILLA EDY, that’s where one of the best hotels in the world is so it’s obviously wonderful. george clooney’s favorite restaurant is there. tons explore and a lot of public beaches and places to jump in. 🚤 🍷🦞🍝 🏊‍♀️
