Year two. A new conference. The same fire. Sacramento Kings legend Mike Bibby returns to the sideline as head coach of Sac State men’s basketball, and he is leading the Hive into its first season in the Big West. In year one, Bibby’s up-tempo offense packed Hornet Pavilion night after night, won 10 games at home, the most for the program since 2019-20, and set a school record for average home attendance. The man who hit one of the biggest shots in Kings history is now building something lasting for this city’s next generation of players. The Hornets open the season at home on Nov. 2 at Hornet Pavilion. Get your tickets at hornetsports.com, bring your crew, and help make the Hive the loudest building in the Big West. SOCIAL Magazine will be courtside all season long, covering the players, the coaches, and the community behind them. Businesses: sponsor SOCIAL’s Sac State coverage and put your brand in front of more than 160,000 views a month while backing the Hornets. Email socialmagazineca@gmail.com to get started. A new league. A new era. Sac State basketball opens its first season in the Big West this winter, and the Hive is already loud. If money 🤑 is your first priority, you’re in the wrong game. 🏀 When you truly have a calling for coaching, training, or building a basketball program, you start by giving value for free. You grind, build trust, and refine your craft because you love the game—not because you're chasing a check. The income follows the impact. Never the other way around. Drop a 💯 in the comments if you agree. The biggest mistake young trainers and coaches make? Trying to monetize before they’ve built value. Real impact starts with free sacrifice. If you genuinely have a gift for serving athletes, you'll put in the hours when nobody is paying and nobody is watching. Build the legacy first—the business will follow. Save this for the days you need a reminder. 📌 🎥 @mirrorlessmediagroup Shout out to our sponsors/partners: @drdishbball @rigorer.us @hardwoodpalace Please like 👍🏽 share 🤝 comment 🗣 and help my road to 15K followers and 10K folders on @boutthatlifepodcast Just a message from your friendly neighborhood AAU GUY 😎 #coachccollins #basketballcommunity #YouthSports #boutthatlifepodcast #AAUBasketball

🏆 Congratulations to Team Strive Above Others (SAO) and Coach Marcus Kirkland Jr. on winning the 2nd Annual NorCal Pro-Am Beast Mode Tournament Championship! Coach Marcus has spent years building more than just a basketball program—he’s built a culture. Through SAO, he’s had a tremendous impact on the Sacramento and Northern California basketball community, helping develop players, creating opportunities, and raising the standard for competition. His influence continues to be felt throughout the region, and this championship is another testament to the work he and his program have put in. SAO’s championship run was fueled by outstanding performances across the roster. David Young delivered when it mattered most, putting together back-to-back 30-point performances in elimination games. BKT EuroCup veteran Sayeed Pridgett brought veteran leadership, poise, and high-level experience throughout the tournament, while versatile wing Michael Kirkland made his presence felt on both ends of the floor with his all-around game. Congratulations again to Coach Marcus Kirkland Jr., David Young, Sayeed Pridgett, Michael Kirkland, and the entire SAO organization on an impressive championship run. Thank you for helping make the 2nd Annual NorCal Pro-Am Beast Mode Tournament a memorable weekend of high-level basketball. We’ll see everyone next year. 🏆🏀
